Off course it's worth it. (for a tourist I guess)
Keep in mind that it's either going to be extremely cold here, or unseasonably warm. And it can go either way several times in one day. That's how the weather is here...
I gotta say though, that I have been living in NYC for 17 years(not by choice) and I cant imagine why anyone in their right mind would want to come here, even for a short visit.
It is a dirty, rotten to the core city with rude people. There is not really anything interesting here aside from museums(better museums in D.C. IMHO) and opera/concerts etc. (but it's all too damn expensive for an average joe to afford)
Some people come here for the bars and night clubs, but it's not like NYC is the only place in the world that has those. Not to mention there's nothing special about these super overcrowded places. So overcrowded they are that I could never even dance or enjoy myself. The less "elite" clubs are less crowded but the music blows in those.
The are only two good, big parks in Brooklyn and Manhattan in NYC. Central park and Prospect Park. That's it. Only two parks in two gigantic areas! Where are people supposed to get some fresh air? No one gives a damn.
The subway is full of psychos, bums and weirdos. Everything is old and rotten. The stations are in horrible condition and smell of piss. Rats are swarming on the tracks.
Everyone is rushing in NYC. Life is a complete and utter chaos. Nothing is ever fast enough for these people. They all want everything to be faster, faster, faster. They judge each other. Social status is extremely important, everyone talk about how much someone else is earning, what college they went to, what kind of car they drive... It's disgusting really. That's why so many people suffer from high blood pressure and die from heart attacks and strokes. Because they burn out. Simple as that! I wish everyone would just take a chill pill and slow the fuck down.
I am leaving this dump first opportunity I get. I want to move to some hick town where I can just have a calm, relaxing life, enjoy my house, my family. Have time to go fishing, walk the dog, spend time with kids and just generally enjoy myself without constantly being compared to others and trying to compete for god knows what. So far I am considering Michigan, Louisiana, Florida, Maine, New Jersey and a few other places... I cant wait till I am able to move out.
