Would 2 6800GTs in SLI be faster than a single 7800 GT?

I am thinking of upgrading to an SLI mobo so I can run SLI. I am getting over 200 FPS in 1280x1024 in COD2 which is the game I play most with my single 7800GT so I guess i don't need more speed but I am thinking future games. So would two 6800 GTs run faster than one 7800GT?

Also I heard that my DFI Lanpart Ultra D can be used as SLI somewhere. Is this true? if so, how do I do it?

ALSO, if I did go with an SLI mobo, and decided to use my 7800 GT and then buy another 7800GT, would the second 7800 GT have to be the same model and brand as the first or would any other 7800 GT do? In other words is it like running dual channel memory where the 2 sticks have to be identical?

Not worth it? Newer games like Oblivion can put the X1900XT to task at 1280x1024 w/ high settings. You can always crank up AA/effects so that it does become worth it, even at lower resolutions.

200 fps in COD2, no way. Maybe COD 1.

I am not averaging 200 FPS but I can get 200+ when looking up at the sky. I average 90-110.

I am running an XTX @ 1280x1024 and I think it's very worth it. Heavy fight scenes in X3 with 4XAA 16XHQAF can bring this card to it's knees - in the 17-22 fps area, which is almost unplayable.

I can understand why you might say that dual cards is not worth it with any res lower than 1600x1200, but any single card out there to date is worth it on any machine running 1024 or above.

Not possible, at 1280x1024 4x AA a 7900 GTX scores 60 fps.. even if you take of AA etc a 7800 GT wouldnt manage 90-110.. unless youre playing with low detail...

As for the 6800 vs 7800 its not worth it really

SLI as an upgrade path is rarely a good choice by the time you actually need an upgrade. A single x1900xtx is about 80% faster than a 7800gt in COD2. A single 7800gt is about 85% faster than a 6800gt. And SLI would give you roughly 80-90% improvement if the game scales well with SLI. In other cases the improvent from SLI will be much less than that. You can see the cards' relative performance here:
http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/hard..._7900_gtx/17/#abschnitt_call_of_duty_2

If you don't actually need to upgrade now, then keep what you have. When future games come out, there will also be future video cards. But even at 1280 res a x1900xtx is not overkill if you plan on playing modern games with all the detail turned on.
