The amount of time spent talking about LGBT issues is completely disproportionate to their percentage of the population, about 3.5%. But when every TV show has to have at least one gay character you can hardly be blamed for thinking they make up 20+%.

and yet it's 2013 and the 'freest country in the world' still doesn't treat its citizens equally.

perhaps the time spent talking about issues would go away if there wasn't a need for the constant awareness, thus removing the need too interrupt your poorly written, cookie-cutter sitcoms with unrealistic, hyberboled, stereotypes of gay people.

Maybe it just feels like 20%. My grandpa always said "A little gay goes a long way".

My grandpa didn't have any teeth. If they cloned him, would his clone not have any teeth or would modern dentistry overcome his tooflessness? Furthermore, is it safe?

Babies are born without teeth. So yes your grandpa clone would be toothless.

News stories about autism say that fathers are responsible for genetic mutation and the amount of mutation goes up with older fathers. Maybe one twin is gay because of a mutation caused by a neutrino or cosmic ray passing through some of their DNA. Computer chips use artificial sapphire as a shield against cosmic rays flipping bits. Maybe we need to shield some of our body parts.

As time goes by I wouldn't be surprised if that 2.5%, 3% or 10% number doesn't increase...

Cloning a gay person would not really prove anything. Since the brains are identical there is a decent chance that they both lead to the decision of deciding to be gay. People are also born with more or less hormones of a certain sex so that can also influence their decision. Now what could be interesting is you put one of them in ballet and other girly stuff, and put the other one in hockey, football etc and then see if their exposure to certain environments helps influence their decision. Perhaps also compare a person who gets abused and beaten vs someone who is babied. Not that I condone abuse, but I'd imagine a kid who is abused probably does turn out more manly because of having to put up with that. On the other hand it might also make them turn emo because they fear every moment of their life. So it would be tough to say. There's probably tons of factors.

Identical twins show a far higher correlation of homosexuality showing a strong biollogical/genetic component; it's not 100% showing it's not the only factor.

I guess the 11% for adopted kids explains the influence of the environment.

wow astonishing! 50% is such a low, low probability considering that homosexuality represents roughly 2% of the population!
So an individual with a 50% chance of being gay dependent on the birth of their sibling, when the general population is 2% gay?

wait...do you know what you're talking about?

oh, no. no you do not.

The flaw in the Twins Study was that nearly all the twin pairs that were studied were raised in the same respective homes. Your sarcastic rant doesn't hold water.

Anyway, here to save the thread!

The Clone Song
By: Isaac Asimov
Tune: Home On The Range

Oh, give me a clone
Of my own flesh and bone
With its Y chromosome changed to X.
And after it's grown,
Then my own little clone
Will be of the opposite sex.

Clone, clone of my own,
With its Y chromosome changed to X.
And when I'm alone
With my own little clone
We will both think of nothing but sex.

Oh, give me a clone,
Is my sorrowful moan,
A clone that is wholly my own.
And if she's X-X,
And the feminine sex,
Oh, what fun we will have when we're prone.

My heart's not of stone,
As I've frequently shone
When alone with my own little X.
And after we've dined,
I am sure we will find
Better incest then Oedipus Rex.

Why should such sex vex,
Or disturb or perplex,
Or induce a disparaging tone?
After all, don't you see,
Since we're both of us me,
When we're having sex, I'm alone.

And after I'm done
She will still have her fun,
For I'll clone myself twice ere I die.
And this time without fail,
They'll be both of them male,
And they'll each ravage her by and by.

I think folks have added the last few verses to Azimov's original.
