Hi guys,

This is my first post to the forums and I'm glad to be here. I have a major problem that can ruin my life and my career. I work on a 19 inch Asus LCD monitor and it's giving me hard times, my eyes are strained almost all the time.

I'm thinking about getting an affordable laptop like DELL 1564 and the display says

size : 15.6"
type : High Definition (720p) WLED Display with TrueLifeTM
internal resolution : 1,366 x 768

Would that be better than my 19 Inch LCD? I just want be able to read ebooks with no problems to my eyes, I'm not going to watch movies on the laptop. I just want something that doesn't give me those bright colors that are driving me crazy D:

I really need an advice!!!

Why don't you just play with the monitor settings? Do you tend to work in the dark with the monitor on? Try adding some extra lighting to the room or turning down the brightness of the monitor.

I played with the monitor settings and still no use, the lighting in the room is perfect.

I don't know if a smaller monitor would really help you. You might find you're straining more to see stuff.

What about playing with the text size from within Windows?

If you are just looking for something to read books on, why not get a Kindle?

The technologies used in the manufacture of LCD's for desktops and the panels for laptops are the same. If one is giving you problems then, assuming the LCD is working fine, other LCD panels will give you the same issues.

It seems that it is some sort of brightness/coloration issue which means it might be a visual problem you have. I'd talk to an eye doctor about the eye strain. I'd also look into getting an LCD anti-glare filter to see if that helps cut down the problem.

anti-glare filter, I didn't know that there is such a thing for LCD. I thought it's only for CRTs, thanks for help. I will look into it

They have them for LCDs as well. Many come with a polarized lens on them for privacy. Helps to soften up the brightness of the screen.
