Would anyone be able to help me upgrade?

Hello everyone. I am looking to upgrade my pc. I mainly wanna switch the cpu and gpu, maybe the mobo if necessary (also depending on things)

I have the windows 8.1 oem disk, and if i switch my mobo out, would i have to buy a new one? Because I did with win 7 oem. Would I also be able to reuse my ram?


Here is my current build (will post links if needed)

Cpu: AMD Fx 4130
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-78lmt-USB3
CPU Cooler: Cooler master Hyper Evo 212
Ram: Crucial Ballistics 8gb
PSU: EVGA 500watt bronze+
GPU: Radeon r970
Storage: 1tb seagate barricuda
Chasis:Enermax Ostrog.

Like I said I mainly wanna upgrade the GPU and CPU, and possibly the motherboard if its kept under $600

IF anyone would be able to help in what would be the best upgrades I would be much appreciated.

I guess the budget price would be around $500-600.

I reside in the USA if that makes a difference.

Second- current Radeon r970?

Upgrade to a R9 290X, can be bought as low as $330.

Third- current 8GB Upgrade DDR3 1333

16GB (4x4GB), add 2 more 4GB DDR3 1333 modules to mobo ($65-$120)

Slight over the max of $600 at about $630. Maybe skip the ram upgrade, $510.

This is a suggested upgrade using these components for $479.86.

CPU is upgraded to FX-8350

Video card upgraded to R9-290

PSU changed to Rosewill Capstone 550. The reason for this is that the video card upgrade takes more power. The EVGA 500W PSU may be operating very close to its limit, and if the EVGA PSU has been used for some years then its power capacity would have decreased anyway. The Rosewill PSU is of good quality and should be reliable.

I would definitely round out that upgrade with something like a 256GB ADATA SP900 Premier Pro.
That would add a lot of snap to the system.

Sorry for the typo and have been somewhat busy.

R9 270*

Its used for gaming mostly, ran into a few problems on some games most are at medium settings, but I wanted to get more oomph.
