The Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Group is responsible for reporting deviations from the standard software process to senior management. Notice that we are talking about software
process. So, if you are really up for a SQA position, and you want to write code, doing process audits is not going to be very much fun.
However, if you are talking about an Independent Verification group that creates and executes Functional, or other types of testing, then the experience might be beneficial and lead to other opportunities.
