There are sooooo many factors to consider. With our debts and declining world popularity it's entirely possible we'd be bankrupted and left out to dry, falling just like Soviet Russia. We have only 300 million against the other 6 billion in the word, it could work through attrition. It would work very easily if it wasn't a random foreign invasion, but instead foreign support of an existing US rift (allowing a portion of the country to assist in the military action against the existing government).

so yes, there are many ways it would be possible, but no, not like in Total War.

True. Here in Phoenix, AZ the city government sponsored a big celebration of Cinco de Mayo, the Mexican Independance Day. The liberal media was all over it, block parties everywhere, etc.
Not one politician came forward to question why we were celebrating the holiday of a foreign country. Do they celebrate the 4th of July in Mexico?

Anythings possible, come the next decade things will soon pan out with our rival countries but I don't think terrorist will hit US soil with hard power quiet yet. That reminds me I need to get personal firearm.

Our organized crime + our inner city gangs would have no problem of disposing with most invading national armies.

Would it be possible to invade the US?

It depends on what you think an 'invasion' is. A classic big ass war is highly unlikely in modern world. Countries these days don't get wiped off the map by vast armies. They rot from the inside, slowly but surely. Some other factors may or may not affect America's domination in the long run, like economy etc.

War, it never ended actually. The older one becomes, the more obvious it is. Who is our enemy? A foreign country? And who is our friend?

SAS, SBS >> any US troop

(SBS = special boat serivce...possibly more hard core than the SAS)

but US for definate has the best, most kick ass weapons. it would be possible to invade the US, but the chances are gonna be slim me thinks.....very very slim

We can match any tank vs tank/ plane vs plane so it would come down to their soldiers vs us. And now that we all can buy automatic firearms I don't think the invaders would stand a chance against 300 million people exercising their second amendment rights.

What do you think?

Edit: And I mean successfully invaded, not just occupy for a month or two.

If computer games are any indication of real life, it's pretty simple when you think about it.

Just a mass overlord drop on the suburban area of a major population center. As your hydralisks and zerglings go to town on the local marine attachment, you burrow in lurkers on all the avenues and send in the queen. From there, it's just a matter of pumpingout infested businessmen and sending them out to other major world centers. Economy would halt because you can't build on creep. Best case scenario, the Protoss nuke us from orbit.

You think someone could put together a land invasion from mexico or canada without our intelligence crippling it in advance???

The only way you could attack the US would be unconventionally.. like with sanctions, nuclear bombs from near to land subs, and germ warfare.

The US could never be invaded unless it was after chemical warfare. Our great country won't go down because of an invasion it will fall economically. exporting of jobs, car industry on the fall, larger deficits, heatlh care crisis, social security. I predict another 20yrs before we are in the dumps sucks for my generation.

with our intelligence operations, how would china/india build the hundreds of transport ships required for such a task?

Tons of subs could work, you just never know if they could build stealth subs. It's possible after all anyways. But the biggest question would be the motive behind it. Sure they can invade us, but what's the motive for invading? If no motive is present and it would be futile to even invade at all.

Amen to that! The beginning of the end for many great nations and empires start when the leadership and the people believe they can get away with subpar policies and resist necessary reforms. Look at Singapore. They're one of the most non-corrupt and successful societies in the world. The leaders do what's necessary for the well-being of the nation, and are not allowed to accept political contributions. They are not swayed by special interest groups, are well-educated, and do not always have to heed to the less-educated (when most of us compare ourselves to Singapore's leaders, we ARE less educated/brilliant) populace.

As for invading the US? Here's my little hypothetical, improbable, but fun scenario! It involves pitting the Chinese against the US. Many agree that the Chinese, if anybody, are the top candidate for invading the US.

I think they would have to "prime" us with strategic nuclear launches. Assuming our orbital (still in the labs) and airborne (successfully tested) anti-missile lasers are operational, we may be able to shoot down the majority of their salvo (12 ICBMs); a few may get through. During their boost phase, we have a choice to retaliate (we have the ability to detect launches). If we do, cross China off the map. Let's assume we don't retaliate, out of pure benevolence for their civilians. If our major military bases in Guam, San Diego, etc are left at least partly intact, we will begin the conventional battles. They will pit their Su-27's against our then-deployed F-22's and F-18's. They incur heavy numerical losses, while we suffer monetary losses (F-22's are about $100M each). However, the real damage comes when surface-skimming anti-ship missiles bite into whichever CVN's we have deployed or moved into the area at the time. The Pentagon reels in shock from the loss. Our P-3C's (or its successor) hunt down their approximately 70 submarines. Torpedoes fire from both sides. Ultimately, the PLA's outdated sub fleet, which has an inadequate number of advanced Kilo-class vessles, bites the dust. Our surface fleet also suffers tremendous losses, since tracking subs and avoiding torpedoes is still rather difficult. The PLA navy, however, is no longer existent. We advance into Chinese waters, backed by Japan's SDF, with the aim to bombard their coastal installations. We are greeted with more land-launched Sunfire missiles. There is almost no way to avoid them. Whatever CVNs we have left are largely wiped out. Without a sea-based platform, our fighters (assuming they took off) make emergency landings on Taiwanese soil. Taiwan is now forced to join the fray. Assuming Congress will approve the purchase, the USAF is bolstered by the TAF's F-35's. China starts lobbing its M-11's towards Taiwan's capital and its naval installations near Kaoshiung. The Taiwanese soon realized they've been duped by the US into buying the ineffective PAC-3's. Much of the Taiwanese navy is destroyed. Their 9 brand-spanking new Kidd-class diesel subs attempt a blockade along the Chinese coastline, flanked by the SDF Navy's two Aegis cruisers. The Japanese now kick themselves for not having remilitarized. The PLAAF's remaining Su-27's and their native J-series (J is for joke) wings take to the sky. However, without advanced reconnesaince aircrafts, the enemy navy avoids detection. The TAF's F-35's and SDFAF's F-15's make short work of the Flankers, notwithstanding noticeable losses. The PLA lobs all the cruise missiles it can at Taiwan, while the 2.5M+ strong army, without air-support, invade India in frustration. 2.5 men survive. The People's Daily reports a stunning victory against the Japanese dogs and the evil American imperialists. The US "accidently" fires another missile into Chinese civilian territory, this time destroying the People's Daily headquarters. Putin's approval rating skyrockets as Sukhov and the nation's shipyards make a killing on orders from what's left of the PLA. Meanwhile, then intoxicated King Charles signs a document declaring war on China while getting a blow-job from his maid. The cum blotches out a part of "China," and the UK effectively declares war on Chile. Ever so confused, the French declare war on the UK. Newly-independent Iraq, ever so eager to please the US, declares war on Iran... cross out Iraq on your map. Canada finally declares support for the US. Three Canadian troopers are flown across the Pacific. In the US... celebrating the PLA's defeat, drunken soldiers turn a key, and push a red button. A shot is fired, and WTF?!?!??!

from the ocean either atlantic or the pacific will be difficult.

but maybe via mexico on ground.
but i think it is possible. Just a matter of how eager are they to invade. No easy task, but a strategy is definately needed. Careful planning too.

Good luck when you get to the rural midwest... I know a handful of houses that the army wishes they would never have marched upon

Of course, if all the gangs and drug lords on the coasts joined together for a single cause, I am sure their arsenals would be sufficient as well.

Then again, a ground invasion would only be used after the enemy has already used air strikes, so that would disrupt things.

US is slowly being invaded by illegal immigrants especially from Mexico.

Just google "La Raza" movement. It seems that the end-goal is for US to become their zion - a new mexico.

Invaded, yes. Occupied for any length of time, no.
Occupy the contiguous states for more than a week? Never.
Alaska could be invaded and occupied for a period of time because depending on the location of the occupation, no one would much give a shyt.

We can't buy automatic rifles. We can buy what the federal government decided to call assault rifles and banned in 1994. Assault rifles are just weapons that look cool, essentially. read this:

It's always possible to invade any country,

but successfully consolidating the invaded territory is much harder.

Only if the Libs like those in P&N succeeded in stripping Americans of their right to bare arms...then yes, the Chinese could roll right over us.
