Mandatory anything that serves the greater needs of our society is a great idea. How about mandatory helmets for anyone crossing a busy street?
Sure, and it should point both ways - viewing both the driver as well as what the driver sees in front of the vehicle. Accident or something - and review the video. Driving isn't a right - it's a privilege. Hell, hire someone to randomly glance at drivers and see what they're doing. Text messaging someone while driving? Hit a kill switch, stalling out the car. Use GPS to summon tow truck to pick the car up & impound it.
Ah sorry it was another of my fat finger phone responses. I meant i wondered if it is worth getting over the 027.Hmm. I read the dashcam site and went with the G1W. What made you sway towards the 027?
I really don't care for the IR leds. There's no way they actually do anything at the distance you need for vehicle use.
F YES. This is exactly what I thought would happen. Cops cannot be pigs; they have to be cops when they are being filmed. There are already tons of cases of cops surprised unpleasantly to later find out they were filmed because they know they were being bad. If they are always filmed their behavior will be tons better. They did a trial of this with wearable cameras on cops:
http://carloz.newsvine.com/_news/20...nts-those-so-equipped-use-force-60-less-often
Two results:
1. Citizen complaints dropped 88%
2. Officer use of Force dropped 60%
People have always been scamming and lying assholes. technology just makes it much easier to call them out on it.What a retarded idea.
When will this kind of garbage stop?
Just what we need, more useless gadgetry in cars, and more ways to have to cover your ass because people in society suck.
Sometimes I am glad I am getting older and closer to death. What a fucked up world we live in.

The main issue with the g1w appears to be it's not been around that long, so reliability data isn't out, though just based on readings today I think I would sway to it anyway. It's a little more discreet, a little cheaper, and its image quality is better.
I am actually surprised automakers aren't making these optional. A car with a backup camera could already point the same camera to the back and get a great rear view. Insert one in the front somewhere, and bring it up on the existing LCD screen

What kind of vehicle?
They should make compasses mandatory on vehicles. Fuck GPS, give me a basic compass. It costs a few dollars at most. It's the most basic navigational tool.
the G1W seems to have better electronics but they put a bright metal trim ring around the lenz which makes it visible and may cause reflections on the w/shield reflecting back to the cam.

All that shit taken off my car will be on Ebay if you want it for yourself. You ain't stalling or tracking anything.
imho nissan provides the best 360 camera view
it is huge!! may as well mount up a HDvideo recorder. are all those features really necessary for a dash cam?
Gestapo Alert!
