Would pairing a Gtx 780 with a gtx 480 be beneficial

See I recently purchased a gtx 780 and its a great card. I gave my gtx 680 to my daughter and took back my 480 from her. (shes 9 now btw). Now can I run and get better physx or MultiMonitor supports with the 780 + 480

Other posters will be able to expound on this but I think its a much wiser decision to just use the 780 alone. It will most likely hold the 780 back seen to me its rather an ancient card when compared to the 780.

I used to use a GTX460 as a physx card. (GTX670 as a main card) It got me +5-10 FPS in Borderlands 2 with all the physx junk turned up.

I took it out, the extra power and heat was not really worth a couple games performing a little bit better.

I tried the dedicated Phhysx route and found that with my EVGA 780 at about 1180MHZ would actually score lower in fluidmark when I had a gtx650ti installed along side it. I was able to pick up a few(4-8) fps in Borderlands 2 and Batman:AC...

It seems as though the 780 needs something along the lines of a 770 as a dedicated physx to really compliment its power, but at that point you might as well just go SLI...that's what I am doing.

Why does your 9 year old need a 680? D:

For alot of reasons.

1. Gaming for one. She loves the sims and zt2 and a hole bunch more.
2. She always gets my handme down videocards.
3. She has a 4771 processor with 16 gb ram and a z87 Asus motherboard with 2 ssd. So sticking a 680 to compliment all of this only seemed right.
4. I love building gameing pc. So it was fun building it

You can use the 480 as a dedicated PhysX processor for games that support advanced GPU physics, it will take load off the 780 and give you more GPU power to render the rest of the graphics.

You can also use it to attach more monitors than the 780 will allow alone.

But you wont be able to use it to gain fps increase from SLI by splitting the rendering load.
