These Muay Thai women would f*ck your day up. This is their life. They train for this stuff.

I mean, if you have a massive weight advantage then you could just bodyslam them and win.

That's why this always bothers me.

Honestly, my reach is far greater than theirs, all I need to do is grab an appendage and then swing them around like a rag doll and use their body as a club against walls or sit on them.

There's only so much you can do with a 65lb weight disadvantage that sheer power / weight / height won't just overcome.

anyone who thinks that any normal joe in good shape is going to be able to handle one of those 3 you are nuts or have no real idea.

I'm not sure of Taits background. but both HH and RR have a lifetime of training. A lifetime of getting thrown, hit and body conditioning.

i don't care if you are 6ft 200lbs of muscle. you are going to lose.

As someone who has been studying mixed martial arts 2x per weeks for about two years now I'd say luck would be the deciding factor on whether the random person would win.

First off, most of you don't know how to throw a proper punch. If there is a big enough strength/size differential you might connect and get a lucky KO but more likely than not your punches are going to be telegraphed, slow and likely to break your hand.

Secondly, most of you don't know how to not get punched. If you're out of position you'll never be able to pat/slip/cover properly and you'll get tagged. If you're not used to getting hit it really only takes one semi-good shot to the jaw to knock you stone cold.

Third, you have to deal with legs. A good fighter can change their delivery mid-kick. If you don't know how to spot them and cover, angle out, or brace in you'll take a foot to the face that will put Holly's shot on Rhonda to shame.

Fourth, you underestimate the technique of grappling and overestimate sheer strength. Yes in a greco-roman situation the stronger person has a distinct advantage. That may even translate into breaking out of some holds like a standard armbar (if you know how to do that without destroying your shoulder). But if someone has sunk in a solid blood choke or shoulder/elbow like a key lock or kimora you're going to be unconscious or down the use of one appendage in less than 5 seconds.

Finally that's all assuming they play by the rules of mixed martial arts. If this is a street fight where small-circuit holds are allowed and things like groin kicks are permitted your best defense is to just walk away. It would be very easy for a trained fighter to slip a sloppy punch, grab your arm and break/tear some combination of your rotator/shoulder/bicep/elbow/wrist before you know what had happened.

And this would work...IF you could get your hands on her.

See Conor McGregor sparring vs. The Mountain. He knows better than to let that dude get his hands on him, or he's done. He really had no chance other than to hit and run.

Watch the video of Rousey sparring with a high school wrestler. He's not going all out, and she has difficulty with him.

Usually for pro female athletes, a high school male is about where the competition vs a man becomes more even. Fighting has the added dimension of all the martial arts and how much experience one has in those, but I'd say even a good high school guy who's been training a few years could easily take Rousey.

Average dude in a cubicle? Probably not, though.

she went up against a kid who was a damn good wrestler. from what see a state qualifer and placeholder.

you aren't going to state with a "few years" of wrestling practice. i gurentee the kid started when he was like 5-6.

even then in a wrestling match type situation she held her own.

They would absolutely kick my ass, unless they did something stupid in the process and my unconscious body fell on them. (In which case they might be slightly uncomfortable.)

Not necessarily you, but how about an average sized male with no formal martial arts training?

I'm 6'0, 190 pounds and I've taken a handful of BJJ and MT classes, just enough to know the basics.
My size/strength/reach still gives me the advantage over a 5'7" 135 pound woman, regardless of their training.

Their blows just won't have the same effect on someone with 50% more size, if they can even land a blow due to my reach advantage. On the ground, if they go for an arm bar or choke hold, they won't have the strength to execute it.

Am I underestimating the skill of a professionally trained female fighter?

I've taken a handful of bjj classes, which is more than enough to teach me how fucking incompetent I am in wrestling and bjj, and how long it would take and hard it would be for me to grasp it to any respectable measure. Not to mention Holly Holm is one of the best female boxers ever.

Aren't there a couple videos floating around of overconfident assho... I mean young men... like the OP that think they could beat a female MMA fighter just because they're a fit dude? I remember seeing at least one, and he got his ass kicked. This wasn't even a world renowned fighter either, it was just a local thing (which was probably the only reason it was allowed) and he got lady-handled.

I would like the OP to get put in the ring with one to see what happens. Can anyone set this up?

I'm 6'2", about 260 and when I roll with my Professor who's about 5'7" and 160 or so I get pwned over and over again. Now, I'm still a white belt with about a year of training and he's a 3 stripe black belt. Granted, we are not striking but from a technique perspective the difference in skill level is outstanding.

I don't think any of these women would have a problem slipping a punch and getting a takedown and choking a random untrained guy out. Once an untrained person hits the ground they are woefully unprepared for what a trained wrestler or BJJ artist can do.

Standing, everyone has a punchers chance but I'd guess if you of these ladies landed a good leg kick, most people would crumble.

Like Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth

I think where she can get you is endurance. I suspect she is vastly more trained and in better shape that you. So if you get into a wrestling match. It is possible she will simply wear you out.

I think you are underestimating the skill and technique of a trained female fighter. My son takes isshin ryu karate from a female sho dan (4th degree black belt) who is ~55 years old. I've held blocker pads for her during kicking drills on many occasions. Once I asked her during class if she would demonstrate a full force kick. She asked me (with a slight smile) if "I was sure I was up for it," to which I responded "sure!" I should have known better. She did a few full force front snap kicks that forced me to step back a few times. Then she did a full force spinning back kick and knocked me flat on my ass. What's more, she executed that back kick so fast that I really don't think I could have blocked it even if I knew it was coming. Which means that in a street fight, I likely would have taken that kick in the nads and would have been down in one shot.

FWIW, I am 6'2, 220lbs and years ago I studied Kung Fu and Hap Ki Do up to the brown belt level. In contrast my son's sensei is 5' 6" and maybe 135lbs. But she is hard as a rock and hits like a ton of bricks.

Cardio is going to make the difference. A 6'2" 190lb guy in good shape is much stronger than any 135lb woman.

But can you chase her around the ring/octagon long enough to use that strength? Throwing a lot of punches wears you out.

If the woman fighter is smart, she dances around and wears the guy down.

If she is not, and goes in for the kill, she will probably lose. When there's that much of a size/strength differential, you don't rush in for the kill, though. Martial arts isn't some magic potion that will 100% make up for a large size/strength differential. It'll give her a very good chance, but it's darn sure no guarantee.

IMO, in this match up it'll depend on who is the aggressor and who lets the other one come to them.

Also will depend on which chick you fight: Holm is more of a boxer. That's what she's going to want to do. And that's exactly what someone who's NOT trained in fighting would want to avoid. She'd have the advantage in a stand-up fight. An amateur guy would be well-advised to get her on the mat, quickly.

Rousey likes to grapple, and that would be to her disadvantage with a larger, stronger man. Size/strength will overcome technique. Just watch her spar with other men, when she's doing situational stuff. The men just play with her, while she's totally going at it. Several videos out there. There's even one of her and a high school wrestler, and she has trouble with him.
It's not that she wouldn't have a chance with someone like the OP, or even somewhat of an advantage....just that his size/strength would definitely give him a chance against her that he wouldn't have against a male fighter of the same size.

I would like to add to this. What avg people think of being in shape and how good of shape they actually are for a contest like this are usually radically different. Athletes like Rousey train several hours a day. The avg "in shape" person trains a few hours a week at best.

Cardio won't play much of a role -- the fight will be over in 15 seconds tops!

Unless the guy has a fairly extensive background in fight training he's going to lose his shit. OTH, an average male fighter with comparable experience and training and of about the same size would dispatch any of these women in seconds.

*looks at half marathon on calendar this weekend*
I got the cardio covered.

But I have absolutely zero fighting training or skill. I'd have a better chance of running them around the ring for 90 minutes and trying not to die.

No woman that size would beat me (200lbs) in a fight unless they hit me in the balls and/or had a weapon. I squat and deadlift 500 lbs, pause bench 320 and lift weights for 2-3 hours at a time depending on the day. Assuming they could withstand a knockout blow to the face, I would muscle through any of her defenses to front mount and then have my way. Let's assume I couldn't get through her defense - I'd just pick em up, run with speed and slam them with such force (into wall or ground) it'd knock the wind out of them and then have my way. Hell, I was chatting with a pro MMA fighter and he said he wouldn't mess with a competitive powerlifter unless he had to. Strength at peak levels is downright dangerous since you can break through holds and slam because of phenomenal core strength.

That's like asking if Robbie Lawler could take on Zydrunas or Brian Shaw. Lawler would shit his pants.

Now Sho'Nuff you shouldn't be losing to a 55 year old woman. Only the Last Dragon can beat you.

Yes, it actually would. Because strongmen are just as conditioned as UFC fighters but with insane strength. If they ever grabbed Lawler it's over. Pick up, bear hug, it's over. Or just break through any defense to front mount. There are limits to BJJ defenses when it comes to raw strength and being overpowered. A strongman's arms are stronger than UFC fighters legs and any hit to a strongman's core won't do shit from a 150lb man to a 440lb man (Brian Shaw's weight). UFC fighter's only option is to go for KO to the jaw, submission isn't going to work. Could they get lucky? Sure, but I'm telling you statistically what would most likely happen.

You really think you can control a pro female fighter by grabbing them? Or hold them down by sitting on them? You guys are too much fun!

Grappling tournaments have an absolute division where every weight competes against each other at the same rank or skill level. Dealing with bigger people that are highly skilled is nothing new for them. All of the matches start on the feet BTW. If their take down game is not up to snuff, they will pull or jump guard on you. Or since you are going to "grab them and ragdoll them", you may get flying armbarred or triangled.

Gentlemen, you simply have no idea what you are talking about. Some of the pro women are stronger than you, despite the weight difference. They are in far superior condition for fighting, skilled at it, and inured to the pain and suffering.

And if you are questioning what the women an absolute look like, here is one of the beasts in it-

Women can be steroid monsters too. And even a lot of the smaller ones juice. Your male hormone advantage is even gone.
