Would the Incredible Hulk be better if they used Hellboy type effects?

I think it would. All CGI seems too fake to me. I'd rather have a guy in a costume/makeup augmented with CGI.

I think Yoda is the epitome of this. I saw Yoda in Empire and Jedi as a real character. He was there. He interacted with the set and other characters. Look at Yoda in the new movies. He's all CG and I just never could "buy" him that way. Granted, I was a kid when the first movies were made, so my palate may be a little more refined today, but I HATE the overuse of CG in movies today. Don't get me started on the "shaky camera" thing, either......

Real always looks better with a proper budget. CGI should only be used to enhance, not create.

ahh.. hellboy2 has the same fx crew from pan's labrinth.

hellboy2 fx looks AMAZING. too bad everything went downhill the moment hellboy showed up on screen.

so to answer your question OP, yes hulk would look a million times better w/pans labrinth fx crew!

Agreed. Look at Lord of the Rings. That is my perfect example of CGI and real life blending together. They limited CGI use through most of the movie making most of the scenes look breath taking.

Maybe if I couldn't instantly tell it was CGI I would have such a problem, but I can.

agreed. Hellboy as a character and story vehicle is horrendous. But Del Toro's imagination and the universe he creates is a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

Um, LOTR used A LOT of CGI, more than you're giving credit for.

Yes it was very clever/creative in how they made the hobbits look small with minimal CGI, but outside of that, you have the cave trolls, nazgul, oliphants, balrog, any mass army fight, treants, eagles, the list goes on.

You are absolutely correct in how they perfectly blended the real life and the CGI together, but they still used a lot of CGI (though it was excellent CGI for the most part).

Beat me to it. It is one thing to use wardrobe and camera tricks to make Ron Pearlman look like Hellboy. It is another thing trying to find someone that could match the height and bulk of the Hulk from the comics.

on the other hand, this looks pretty awesome: http://www.movieweb.com/news/62/26662.php

granted, the character isn't throwing things around or blowing stuff up, but the use of animatronics gives it a more organic and tangible feel, IMO.

They offered Del Toro anything he wanted after Pan's. He got offered I am Legend and the last two Harry Potter's. They told him he could direct basically any movie he wanted.

He said he wanted to make another movie with Ron Perlman as the star and would love to make a sequel of Hellboy. Looks like the compromise was Hellboy meets Pan.

I personally liked (liked, didn't love) the first Hellboy. It was fairly good and was pretty true to the tone of the comics (from the few I've read).

There were a lot of scenes in that movie that were pure CGI, which I didn't even pick up on until I saw the special features.

For example, when they're running across the Bridge of Khazad-Dûm, that entire overhead sequence was entirely computer generated. And there are a lot of other shots that were also computer-generated.

As Schfifty Five said, a lot of big battle sequences were computer-enhanced. When it showed thousands of horsemen riding into battle, they only had a small group of guys for filming. Computers were then used to duplicate and mix them together by the thousands. And of course anytime it showed a horse getting injured, it was completely CGI.

Meanwhile everyone bitches that they have already seen 'this' before anytime a new movie comes out.

CGI is where movies will go like it or not. Soon one will not be able to tell what's CGI and real.

Most people I don't think know this part of the hulk from marvel's universe.

He is about 6-8' in unpissed off hulk form. Once angry he just keeps growing and growing and getting stronger.

They couldn't make a believable scene in real life of a 16' pissed off hulk hurling 100 tons+...in the 'stats' of the universe I believe they never state a limit on his strength..

I think it would have been better without CGI

Keeps the makeup artists jobs and it shows more effort imo.

The Hulk doesn't actually grow in the comics. They only added that to the last movie.

these guys look 50% bigger than Arnold. some of them are Hungarian,
is it all right for the Hulk to have a Hungarian or Eastern European accent
(whatever that is - maybe sounds like a Russian person speaking English).

the good thing about making money on this Hulk movie is, they'll probably
make another.

they should use these steroid imbibing weightlifters. they're freakishly
large, how freakishly large does the Hulk have to be ?

i'm sure one of these guys would be willing to wear green paint for $1 million.

uh... the Hulk is between 6'6" and 8", depending on which version:

Height

5' 9" (Banner), 7'0" (Savage Hulk), 6'6" (Joe Fixit),7'6" (Merged Hulk), 8'0" (Green Scar)

He is however correct about the Hulks strength ... it was limited only by how angry he got & theres no way to show him for example hurling a skyscraper at a bad-guy without CGI effects.

dude...you are just googling so why not google hulk's MAXIMUM size and not just his resting stats before your go off disputing others.

I really hate when some tool comes in, does a quick google and then acts like an expert.
