I was told that using multiple nic's can increase input/output. Would this work for 56k modems? If so how would you set it up?

AFAIK, only Diamond Supra modems offer "shotgun" technology. Using two similar 56K modems, you can configure them to use two phone line at the same time which in effect, "doubles your bandwidth if and only if your ISP supports 2 accounts for a single person.

it can work, but the cost will be so great, you probably wouldn't want to do it. IO've read that you need two phone lines, and two modems and then use special software to combine the two modems. Of course, that will still give you only about 90kbps which won't help you. And all the extra cash you'd have to spend....

DSL/Cable is WAY better. I get 1000kbps down/320 up and it costs me only 40CDN (25US)

Not all areas have access to DSL/Cable, like mine. I'd love to do two modems in sync but buying 2 modems is not in my near future.

Windows 98 and later already have this ability build in... Check this link for more information. just ignore the specific information like phone numbers. Remember that your ISP has to support multiple account connections.

NOT EVERYONE CAN GET BROADBAND! I would kill for DSL or cable, but it's simply not available where I live. For us, a shotgunned 56K connection may be our best option.

Win98 has support for this built in. Go to the "Multilink" tab on your DUN connectoid properties. It will have everything you need software-wise, you will also need an ISP that supports it.

About the ISP support, do you need to configure stuff on the server side or can you just basically use an account that allow multiple log-ins and the windows multilink protocol would do the rest?
