I bought a new in box 4th gen ipod touch from someone. I had thought about taking it back to Wal-Mart and paying the difference for the 32 gig, would this work? The ipod is still sealed and never opened

Unless you have the original receipt and are taking it back to the original store it was purchased from, you'll have to find an alternative method like craigslist or ebay or something.

I'm not sure how, but just something I have heard. It's always worth a try, play dumb "My mom got it for me and lost the receipt, I just wanted the "bigger" one"

Usually you can exchange unopened merchandise without a receipt for store credit. I would think that would apply to electronics.

This. It shouldn't be that hard to do the upgrade. Wal Mart employees are easily fooled.

OP: Tell them you got it as a gift and thus have no receipt. Wal-Mart will gladly give you store credit.

My friend returned a fan that had been deliberately smashed to pieces to Walmart for a full refund. I think there's a pretty good chance that they'll take back a sealed iPod without the receipt.
