Dude, we never get characters around here like this anymore! Call me a sadist for beating up on the special needs kid if you want, but I relish an opportunity to make a spectacle of someone like this. Ignorance of the magnitude he displays shouldn't be ignored, but should be mocked, derided, and scorned. Indifference to ignorance is shameful.

Uhm... yeah we do, at least a few times per month. Also, you carrying on like this is any kind of actual debate actually legitimizes the non-sequiturs he's passing off as arguments. Furthermore, trying to use logic to defeat an explicitly illogical person is the height of illogic.

Name one organism that has been physically observed evolving.

melanogaster drosophila

You're a moron. Don't talk about things you know nothing about. You can't compensate for ignorance with conviction.

I decided to change that because there's no harm in honest inquiry.

Viruses "evolve" fairly quickly via the form of genetic mutation, which allows them to resist certain antibiotics so they can survive longer.

Also, I'm guessing you're a typical uneducated blowhard hardcore bible thumper??

Biologists define evolution as a change in the gene pool of a population over time. One example is insects developing a resistance to pesticides over the period of a few years. Even most Creationists recognize that evolution at this level is a fact. What they don't appreciate is that this rate of evolution is all that is required to produce the diversity of all living things from a common ancestor.

Evolution takes thousands and thousands of years to show even the slightest change in a species characteristics.

One could even argue that viruses "evolve" fairly quickly via the form of genetic mutation, which allows them to resist certain antibiotics so they can survive longer.

It takes only a few generations, you just need to look very carefully.

I would state it's a simple fact that viruses have (and continue to) evolved very quickly. There's really no argument to be had.

It's a far cry from a virus to Human being, or any animal for that matter.

Fruit flies that have been tampered with in the lab?

By that logic Human cloning must be evolution, too.

I thought the more popular Creationist model today was that there were only a few thousand animals on Noah's ark, and that the millions of species we see today are a result of very rapid evolution over ~4300 years.

Guess you're one of those who thinks there were millions on the ark? Or would you not consider such a tremendous amount of speciation to be evolution?

You're not going to prove yourself right here buddy.

Go bury your head in the sand on a Christian forum with your other fellow sheep.

You can mock him without actually addressing his stupid "arguments," in length. Probably why the other guy said you took the bait.

Look, it was late last night, and I was kinda bored, so I went all-in. Long before I ever found ATOT, I spent almost a decade as a regular on a Christian forum, and this sorta took me back to the old days. I've known a hundred schmuckleys, and many much crazier than he.

Maybe because they haven't been around for millions of years
No, I never have
Ever wonder why the theory of evolution is still a theory?
Because it cannot be proven by the scientific method.

you are a special person.

No, believe me, schmuckley is in a rare category of religious persons. Outside of the most insulated Christian forums, you don't find many out-spoken young earth creationists any more. That's certainly a good thing, but they can be fun to play with (for me, at least).

Also, you carrying on like this is any kind of actual debate actually legitimizes the non-sequiturs he's passing off as arguments.
I don't agree. I think it is still useful to refute PRATTs when they show up on forums because to many they are not known to be PRATTs. It doesn't take a lot of effort for me, and I'm naturally sarcastic anyway.

Furthermore, trying to use logic to defeat an explicitly illogical person is the height of illogic.
His problem isn't a logical one, it is simply ignorance.

So you were a troll?

Well, no, since you asked.

I stumbled upon the forum when I was much younger when I was googling around for articles on the Evangelical Christian objections to the Mormon religion. I was nominally Christian back in those days myself. It didn't take long after diving into the debates on the forums to find myself an atheist, however. They were actually pretty welcoming and hospitable to atheists back in the early days.

schmuckley has to be trolling us.
No one could be that stupid and still comprehend that the letter you press on the keyboard puts the same letter on the screen.

Ok,so Dinosaurs existed for millions of years, reproducing.Yet they went extinct, and there really aren't that many fossils.
Seriously,if dinosaurs existed for millions of years, they would cover every square inch of the earth. If you cannot comprehend that,I don't know what more to say.I know you're intelligent.
Decomposition of materials has been proven to be entirely false. Food does not decay, that's merely an illusion. There are in fact piles of old plants and food around you that are 2 miles deep. You just never noticed.

I suppose you think an intelligent being such as yourself came to exist from some random cosmic soup that got a jolt of electricity or something.
Yup, pretty much.
We just think we're special.

Statistically speaking, matter itself is special. In terms of volume of the Universe, matter is not statistically significant. It would typically be considered a minor rounding error.
"That means that only about 0.0000000000000000000042 percent of the universe contains any matter."

And of that tiny amount of material, there is one common galaxy which contains a common yellow dwarf star with some primates on it that think that they are the most significant things in existence.

Yeah..that hasn't quite been created in the lab yet.Even if it was;It would prove intelligent design.
We discovered DNA in the 20th century. Earth's been around for more than 4 billion years, and it has a much larger petri dish and a much larger energy budget.

Everything works in harmony with everything else..humans breathe out CO2..plants use CO2 to make oxygen etc etc..many intricacies. This is not random.
Harmony? Have you seen nature working?
Life kills life to survive. Even herbivores must consume living cells and chemically destroy them as a source of nutrients.
Animals have evolved adaptations to permit them to more easily kill other animals. Plants have adaptations that permit them to kill other plants, or even kill animals which consume them. Monarch butterfly caterpillars consume toxins that make them dangerous if consumed by another animal.
Earth's past shows evidence of mass extinctions where >90% of everything died off.

The impression in the ground fits the puddle because conditions were conducive to permit formation of the puddle. The impression wasn't created for the sole purpose of housing the puddle.

(Yes, "evolved." Saying evolution is untrue is akin to saying that the derivative of x² is not equal to 2x.)
