Would You Bother With an AC Accelero Twin Turbo II?

I've got an ASUS DirectCU II GTX 670 (the standard 915 Mhz model). I notice while gaming it tops out at about 75C (and pretty much stays around there with the fan on auto). If I manually increase the fan to 60% it drops to 68C, but is a bit noisy. I have a small Lian Li PC-A05NB with a 140mm fan on the optional top panel.

I have an Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo II I bought over a year ago for a GTX 460, but never used it. Its compatible with the GTX 670. Should I even bother with installing it on the GTX 670? The DirectCU II looks like such a nice cooler, plus the card has a standard backplate. Just seems its should do a better job cooling. Should I worry about a constant 75C? I don't OC it right now (paired with an X4 980 BE, so its already slightly bottlenecked by the CPU).

Is this the newer one that cools up to 250W? I've read reports of people using these on GTX 680s with good results. I'm not sure if it would make a huge difference in your case. It might be more of a side grade if anything, but you'd have to research that.

What I can say is that the Twin Turbo II is very quiet, even at 100% fan speed. I had one on a delidded GTX 480 that was highly overclocked and overvolted, and it did a wonderful job for being a fairly cheap and simple cooler.

Yes, its the 250W version (although I think they're identical - AC just changed the sticky label on them). The quiet is the part I'm most concerned about - although dropping the temps say 10C would be nice!

Guess the other concern is the warranty - don't know how fussy ASUS is about third party coolers. Even if you put the old one back on for an RMA they might notice the TIM being replaced.

If your card was getting too hot, it would let you know. If it aint broke.

I bet it would help a little. I am curious though, have you even taken off the stock HSF and re-applied some good thermal material?

My current Gigabyte card had a good spread on it, but the EVGA card I had before that was awful.

No, not yet. I figured since I already had the AC Accelero if I went that far I might as well replace it completely.

I wouldn't. The DirectCU II is a very nice cooling system. I bet the Arctic would give you marginally better results. Not worth the hassle or the money.

Money? He already has the cooler. I would try it just to see what happens.

The Twin Turbo II should be a bit quieter, and possibly a bit cooler as well. But the tradeoff isn't free. In exchange, you'll need more room in your case. (Three slots vs. two.)

That said, 75C on a GPU is nothing to worry about and it may not be worth the trouble.

I wouldn't bother. The DCII cooler on the 670 is among the best custom coolers in existence. The TT2 might be a little bit better, but you'll risk voiding your warranty, and you have to glue on those PITA memory and VRM heatsinks. Plus the TT2 is much less attractive.
