Would you buy a house this close to a poop treatment plant?

It doesn't matter what we think. How does the g/f feel about it?

What direction does the wind normally blow? That would be the biggest factor. You should be fine, unless the wind is literally blowing the smell directly in the house's direction. It is a pretty nasty smell. I live not that far from one, I don't smell it from my house but when I drive on that main road I will smell it for maybe half a km or so of that road stretch. I think it mostly runs only at night though, you can see flames coming out of the tower burning off the methane.

There is no back yard and it's touching the house next to it.
I would not buy another townhouse, nor would I buy anything on a small lot.

I wouldn't care about the poop factory as long as it doesn't smell.

yeah, I don't like the idea of the roof overlapping like that either. But the inside and the neighborhood looks nice other than from being so close to the poop factory.

To be honest, it certainly does have nice curb appeal aside from the fact that it's connected and on a small lot.... And it would be nice to have a garage

Anyhow, really, you may or may not notice the smell, and really that would be the only thing that would drive me away from being near one.

I was maybe 1 and 1/2 miles from one in my previous home, and I never smelled it or noticed it, but, I things may be different when you get closer...

I would never buy a house that is built on landfill.

I have no opinion on the water treatment plant.

Hell no. Plus there is NO yard at all.

EDIT: Almost $500k for 3k sq ft lot? That's nuts even in CA.

round here those are called duplexes :|

im from a small town, 10,000 people, parents live near the waste treatment facility. theres about 1 day a month where you only kinda dont want to stay outside.

but eh, no yard...that kinda blows. i wouldnt just for that.

homes are getting snatched up like crazy in that area. if you need a home now you'll probably be stuck with ones like this where its less desirable and less of a bidding war.

they had an open house this weekend where the home was already sale pending before the open house occured. but since they already paid for the money to advertise the open house they did it anyway. multiple bids, sale pending before open house is how crazy the market is in the bay area. Frequently selling for 50-100k over asking

Guys... admittedly Tommy's life is pretty shitty already with the way his girlfriend runs it. Might as well just add the smell, you know, just for added "ambiance".

oh hell no. the only reason theres houses around there are because the taxes are cheaper, and im sure the winds off the bay mask some of the smell.

but that first day you wake up and your whole house smells like shit would be enough.

don't even bother. find a place that smells better.
