Dell is still providing them. BALL mice at that! MS Opticals cost $5 in quantity! Come on Michael! :| :| :|

Buying a non scrolling mouse with a ball is like buying a car without A/C, power windows and manual locks (key entry only). People still do this?

Cheers!

what system would they give that with? For some reason I'm seeing $3k+ workstations with that in my head...

Same here. It's only a minor annoyance when I encounter a mouse that does not have one, but that's some serious penny-pinching by Dell.

Certainly, I find them annoying (when you just want a middle click, they often scroll accidently messing up everything you've worked hard to do) and I can never seem to scroll very fast (or with any changes to the settings, then I cannot scroll very accurately). Die hard 3 button mouse user here.

Well maybe in an emergency.

You know the kind, 3 in the morning, 5 feet of snow just fell in the last 4 hours, it's christmas day and you live in a mennonite community.

and i would not buy a non-optic mouse and i would never buy anthing less than a 5 botton mouse.

If you have broadband connection and dont have a 5 botton mouse you dont know what you're missing.

Yes, but that's because I prefer IBM's Scrollpoint Mouse. Hold down a trackpointer instead of endlessly pushing a wheel to scroll long pages, much easier. Plus horizontal scrolling. I'm surprised it never caught on.

I only buy mice with one button. I could never figure out what the other buttons do.

This doesn't apply to Mac users!

Those things feel like pressing on a sandpaper coated eraser! :Q

The MS mouse feature horizontal scrolling (tilt wheel) and acceleration so if there is a large sheet one flick of the wheel and you're flying.

Cheers!

You are obviously missing firebird or opera.
