Wow. Calm down turbo. If you took my questions as an attack on you, than I apologize. The Vette definitely has downsides (sexiness of the interior being the main complaint) but I've never heard of them being more prone to becoming rattle-traps at least for the C6 generation. The C4 has had the reputation but I haven't heard it for the C5 and C6.
Late reply here; was trying to avoid this thread so I didn't get sucked into any kind of debate...
I wasn't trying to be instigative, nor did I feel you were. The 'Vette is just one of 'those things' that seems to put me at odds with the overwhelming majority of people in this forum (or perhaps the ones with similar opinions just avoid the threads).
I've driven the C6. I just never saw this supposed jump in quality. Has it gotten better? Yeah. But I just feel like they're still trying to put lipstick on the C4 pig. The C5 got round and modern and looked so much prettier...but the plastics still felt so cheap and loose, and the configuration of everything essentially remained unchanged. Which is to be expected, I guess, as the car remained proportionally similar, still needed the high driveshaft tunnel, ect. So it was just 'modernizing' the same space.
Really, the big 'wtf' for me is the percieved jump from C5 to C6...it just didn't seem any better at all. They massaged the dimensions of some stuff, and added some leather or other soft bits to the same ol' cheap plastic.
When you couple that with the hard ride of just the base C6 (which may actually be worse than the upper models, since IIRC is lacks all the dynamic suspension stuff)...man, it just seems miserable inside. I don't have complaints about the drivetrain or the way it handles...I just find the inside to be distracting to the point of DETRACTING from the overall experience of driving the car. I would honestly favor a stripped-out, mostly-metal interior just to be rid of the annoyance and feel more able to have a 'pure' driving experience. I guess I'm kind of a 'do it really well or don't do it all' type.
