Would you buy Intel graphics?

They'd have to get a core team of developers, which is not easy. However, Intel would have the innate advantage of better process technology. The latest ATI/Nvidia is made on 90nm? Whereas Intel is already mass producing 65nm. Traditionally, ATI/Nvidia is always a generation behind Intel in terms of process technology.

As for all the morons saying GMA sucls. Too bad it dominates business machines. Yea, hard for the average AT'er to realize not everyone games on their PC.

Possibly it might cause other video card companies to drop there rediculously high Video card prices!!

I had an AGP i740, I don't remember the 710.

I still have both of them on my work bench. Both were passively cooled with Greenie base sinks.

I hate to break the news to you all but Intel is the world's largest producer of GPU's. They do it as integration into the Northbridge chip sets. I think it's silly for Intel to go into the gamer space since it's such a tiny segment of the overall market but if they want to so be it. They definately have the technology.

For my main machine? It would depend on the benchmarks.

Intel integrated graphics have been great for my HTPCs.

Intel is ahead of everyone on process technology, including IBM and AMD. Intel is just able to because they have so many fabs and such a large market, they can take the losses needed to ramp up fast.

And ATI and nvidia don't develop their own fab processes, so they're limited to what TSMC can do.

Anyhow, even a basic vga capable 2d graphics chip would be sufficient for most business machines, spreadsheets don't require much.

Just like Intel did for the cpu and motherboard market!
