Selling my HT to clear up money for upcoming home purchase. All pieces purchased from Tweeter about 2 years ago and show little (or no) signs of use.

Would rate each piece about 9/10 condition, 10/10 performance and reliability. Still within Polk's warranty period (5 year, I believe).

1) Polk Audio Monitor 60s / T90eb Euro floorstanding speakers (pair): 2 years old, original owner, 9/10 condition, original boxes, paperwork, warranty card (don't even think I filled them out). Black grills are perfect, black cabinets are minty as well.

$700 a pair retail, will sell locally for $350 cash.

2) Polk Audio CS2 center speaker: 2 years old, original owner, 9/10 condition, original box, warranty card, black grill, black cabinet both minty.

$350 retail, will sell locally for $150 cash.

3) Polk Audio Monitor 30s / T20eb Euros, 2 years old, 9/10 condition, original boxes, warranty card, black grills, black cabinets, both excellent.

$240 a pair retail, will sell for locally for $100 cash.

Will sell the entire package for $550 cash. Might be able to throw some stands in and possibly speaker cable as well if you get the whole system.

Thanks.. I just bought a new HDTV and was thinking of starting to piece together a new HT sound system.

Harsh, but yeah that seems like a pretty good deal. I parted my polk system together over the last five or six months for around 850$ on the net and its almost in the range of that system.

I would have suggest checking out http://www.polkaudio.com/forum...er=&pp=25&daysprune=30 just to confirm if the prices were in line with other offers.

I also would also suggested doing a demo of them in person before committing to anything. You could potentially bring over some familiar source material to listen to (as described in the auditioning section of my sticky thread).

Go take a look at them & see if they'll let you have a listen like Yoyo suggested ... there are some fantastic deals to be had on CL along with the scams & rip-offs!

Yeah, the issue is not so much whether the deal is good, it's whether you're being offered real Polk speakers or cheap rip-offs.

That's WAY too expensive for those speakers. You can generally get speakers for 25-30% off retail new if you work with the sales guy on price.

He's wanting nearly half of retail for USED speakers. Now I don't have a problem with used speakers as they can last 10-20 years if not longer, but his prices are a rip off.

Agree .... 100 per-cent ..... usual price for used is no more than one third

The price on the 60s is a bit high, but the others seem pretty fair. If you buy the whole set and get some stands thrown in, it's a pretty solid deal.

I forgot which center Polk (i think csi3)I got, but I got it from Crutchfield scratch and dent for like $120. The only thing scratched was the box.

The center looks a bit high to me too -- I think that is more like $65-$75 used in value. I don't know about the others as those are the higher end/name lines. I brought the Polk speakers that Outpost/Frys used to put on sale all the time. I think they do still -- you can pick up a nice set over time if you go with those.

This is what I have -- Polk changed the names but makes the same/almost the same speakers today:

rear: 2 x Polk R15 - paid $52 shipped for pair (January 2006)
center: 1 x Polk CSi25 - paid $82 shipped (October 2006)
front: 2 x Polk R50 - paid $78.60 shipped each so $157 for pair (November 2006)
sub: Polk PSW10 - paid $100 off Craiglist

I like all of these a lot -- the center is very good, the fronts are great and have more bass than I had expected for movies, the rears I don't have installed but used as fronts for a while and are good (need to add wiring). The sub is either okay/mediocre or crap. I'm not sure which yet -- my initial thoughts were crap but I didn't have my receiver hooked up via SPDIF/digital audio for the longest time. Now that I do, the sub is working well with AC3 audio. I think it's okay but not worth $100 -- maybe $60-$70 max.

I'm not helping you much but I still see the equivalent of the Polk R50s come up on the Hot Deals forum either here or at the Fat Wallet so if you need to budget buy it is something to think about. I'm very happy with the R50s -- the cherry color is nice. For the price, I don't think I could have gotten better than the R50s and they look great.
