That's the bit I'm banking on.

same. I would be joining the day they attacked. if refused the right to serve i would do what i can.

IF called up for service i would go. IF asked to fight i would go. but i would do my damnedest to stay alive. Die for my country? not willingly.

If it's a situation in which I believe in then yes I would. But I have yet to see a situation in which I believe in to warrant me even fighting for my country.

If I was called to serve in the military for my country (which I believe in the foundations of the country), I would serve, if that is what you mean. I would prefer to serve in a way, such as a medic or an intelligence officer, but that is pipe dreams (they need too many grunts right now).

I definitely don't agree with our current administration and the crap they are pulling us through though, but now we must win it, and if I was called, I would go. It is your duty as a citizen.

**EDIT**
I would fight for a country, but would I put myself in harm's way for a country, I am not sure. I would die for a person I cared about or a cause though.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13)

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. (Voltaire)

I sure hope there are not many that would willingly die for the country. I prefer thsoe that would kill and kill again for it. a dead soldier is not much good. a live one that kills is far more usefull.

But those that are willing to fight, and kill, risk dieing. Which is the paying the ultimate price.

I guess willing to die, is the wrong terminalogy, risking their life to fight for their country, and accepting that they may die is more accurate.

I spent 22 months in Vietnam. I did my time. Now if this country were actually invaded, then Yes, I'd get the long guns out again, and do what I could...

That depends, are we talking about the actual country and the people therin, or just the semi-propaganda, "he died in service of his country," thing you tell the families of people who get blown up in, say, the course of a routine food drop in Afghanistan?

If it's the latter, kiss my leather starfish. Otherwise, yeah, definitely. If I knew my death would save the country (and most importantly all the people therin) then you're damn right. I'd jump in front of that bullet, crash my plane into that spaceship, or ride that rocket down cowboy-style.
