The only time I will hit any other human being is when they have maliciously struck me. I will then proceed to hit them back with the same amount of force and the same type of blow that they used on me. I really don't like the idea of going out or being anywhere and having some guy or woman who cannot mentally control themselves use physical violence on me. They should expect it back. Whether this be a MAN or WOMAN. If they also try to maliciously attack me I will then restrain them until they have calmed down. I always try to avoid fights and even talk my way out of them, but sometimes you can't. If I am in a relationship with a woman and she gets angry at me, for whatever reason and slaps me, then she will be struck back as above. However I will under no circumstances hit a woman (or man) unless they strike me first. There are better ways to resolve problems then to use immature ways and deal with it with physical violence.

This statement being on topic, I don't see how anyone could justify hitting a woman (or man) unless they were struck first, if I ever see a man hit a woman for no reason, you can be damned phucking sure that I will have a strong word with him. Furthermore I also don't see how anyone could possibly justify that it's fair for a woman to hit a man and the man not being able to hit her back. Fair is fair.

There was this old girlfriend of two years who decided out of the blue that we were now having an open relationship. I took it as well as I could, but what bothered me was the guy she hooked up with was someone she had a long time crush on. So after a while (and her hooking up a few more times) I decided to make an ultimatum cause I knew she was falling for him ("there's so much more too him now that I'm getting to know him"). She demanded that I stay put. Said I was being insecure and insensitive. Things turned real nasty and she got in the doorway so I couldn't walk out on her. She wouldn't move even after a shove. Somehow I didn't hit her when she got in my way. So I was trapped and I stayed. Later she said that she was sure I was going to hit her, and if I did it would have been over. Things continued to be lousy and we broke up and a week later can you guess who her new boyfriend was? Looking back I would have hit her.

if she hit him first and it was hard enough to warrant a physical reaction, i say don't hit her back or even smack her...give her the face smush...grab her whole face with the hand and just shove her back...its not hittin her or smacking her, but it would be shocking...even degrading if seen by other people......

Well, I heard recently that a female soldier took off her kevlar helmet and hit another male soldier across the face with it out of anger during a training exercise. I must say that I would be really, really hard pressed NOT to give her "equal" rights, if you get my drift. Otherwise, no, never.

I have seven women in my Kenpo studio that outrank me, belt-wise. If, while working techniques or sparring, I were to let up on any of them for a second, my instructor would kick the crap outta me (verbally) and then demonstrate the technique on ME--which usually means kicking the crap outta me literally.

So yeah, I have hit more than one woman, more than once. Kenpo women are tougher than normal women though so it does not count. There are many ways to subdue a person without hitting them.

Seriously, the people who are saying that violence solves nothing are fools. Violence can definitely bring a rapid conclusion to events that are rapidly spiraling out of control. That said, violence should be a last resort in every situation as it might lead to escalation - which is NOT good.

Anyway, you better have a damned good reason to hit a woman. Why? For the most part, because that is just the most pathetic thing a man can do and second, it can bring all sorts of retaliation from bystanders. I saw a guy pop a girl in the jaw at a bar once. None of her friends did anything (scared) but two guys came across the room and beat the crap out of the guy just because he had hit a girl. THAT is what you call street justice.

At my 21st b-day party, my buddy's wife kept slugging him, ribs, kidney's, face, this went on over about an hour.

We were all like, Joe, hit her back.

He had the "can't hit a chick" attitude, we were telling him, dude, she's gonna hurt you if she keeps hitting you in the kidney's.

About 5 minutes later she comes at him again, slugs him in the ribs, he hauls off and BAM, right on the jaw.

Edit: I should add, the same conditions actually apply for males.
I wouldn't hit another guy unless I was in physical danger either.

I would try to talk my way out of it, and if that failed I'd try to get the hell out. Only if both failed would I resort to violence against either sex.

Someone it just feels more wrong against a woman though...I guess becuase I'm 6'3" and 260 pounds, most women are a lot smaller than me, and beating on someone who's 8 inches shorter and 100 pounds lighter than you just seems f*cked up, man or woman. Unless they are like Karate master or something...but in general...anyways I digress.

I wouldn't even slap a woman in the face, in a way that would cause no physical harm. That's just useless...if you are to the point where you can't even express your feelings without a slap, you should reconsider your position, take a walk or something.

But seriously: I hope I'll never be in the situation of having to think about hitting a loved one - - for good or bad, I could not do it. But I'd have no problems hitting a female trying to assault me. The times are not chivalrous, and that reflects upon the deeds.

Like so many others said before, the question really should be "Would you hit someone?" Beating someone acting on an angry impulse is wrong regardless of that person's sex.

I can imagine a situation where I would have to hit someone to defend myself but I would rather run away than get into a fight. Not because I am a coward but because I would rather not get hurt AND not hurt anyone. Furthermore, I have been attacked on the street and punched in the face before, but I did not hit back, and I am glad I didn't. I can imagine that if I had managed to knock out this animal who came at me, he would have tried to take revenge on me with the help of a few friends of his, and I could have ended up dead. This way I got away with a sore jaw. Nothing good would have come from me hitting back...

To protect someone else, that is an entirely different matter. I would consider smacking someone if they tried to hurt my wife or a friend, although only as a last resort. They could be male or female, I probably would not react any differently.
