I grew up in a suburb of about 10,000 people, went to school in a class of about 200. I can name all the black kids that I went to school with from kindergarten through high school. It's easy, there were only nine of them, four of them from India and three adopted by white parents. I can name all the east asian kids I went the school with, his name was Alan. I can name all three Hispanic kids.
Since then I've lived a bunch of different places with very high diversity. My home town seems kind of weird now and wouldn't choose to live anywhere that homogeneous again.
