Closing in on 50 years since the grisly murders of actress Sharon Tate, pregnant wife of convicted perv and now fugitive Roman Polanski, and other victims. Leslie Van Houten who was 19 at the time of the murders, was convicted of stabbing Sharon Tate 14 times. No motive other than Miss Houten and other women were directed by serial killer Charles Manson to go on a murdering spree. But no matter. She may be paroled. Have an extra room to rent?

I know that most of you are too young to remember this time of history. In the 60's two of the most notorious mass murders were Charles Manson and the Boston Strangler (Albert DeSalvo). By the way, one of Manson's female disciples never charged, Lynette 'Squeaky' Fromme, was later convicted of attempted murder on the President of the United States, Gerald Ford. Later she escapes from prison, and powers that be say if you want to be released from we're cool with that. And they paroled her.

She looks like she served some hard time at any rate. Looks 10 years older than her 66 years.

Wow, I wonder if Matt Groening intentionally named Milhouse's family after her.
And I think you mean parole, not pardon. I'm not sure on the parole thing, I think the victims family should have a say, if any are alive.

You are right. I'll change the subject title.

How is she going to survive or function in this world... after being introduced or rather... thrown... into it at age 66?
And... double murder - vicious stabbings via a knife?
That's no accident. We're supposed to forgive that?
It's a mistake that she wasn't executed back when she was sentenced.

Well at least landlords won't be able to turn her down when she applies to rent based uppn her murderous past

If she is released she should be assisted in every way possible for a successful return and integration into society. Anything else would be cruel and unusual punishment devoid of due process.

If I remember correctly, Leslie Van Houtem did not take part in the murders at the Tate residence.
Leslie Van Houtem joined in the next night and murdered or stabbed Rosemary LaBianca.
I doubt the governor will allow her release. He has the final say.

Nice how the far left is so forgiving of abortion, drugs, prostitution, racism (College "Safe" areas and "safe" speech), Black Lives Matter, and just about everything else, but not ready to believe that people are worth anything. Maybe that's why they're so OK with personal self-destruction?

News flash, not only can people change, but they can fundamentally and permanently change.

Prison terms are generally too long, too easy and generally don't do shit to change a person other than scar them and drill it in that life and society suck. If the point is punishment? It fails. If the point of prison is to change behavior? It fails.

All prisons do is make the person that was wronged feel better about the soceity in which they live. A false illusion of safety to help them sleep.

Either let the woman go, or execute her is my call. Either way, she doesn't belong in prison.

You're full of false equivalency. Long term prison terms do affect real and permanent change...for the worse. Regardless of the emotional, intellectual or, legal status with which they entered the system, all long term prisoners are criminals. She should have been executed but, California. She does deserve life in prison because her existence in society is unacceptable not because of any misguided attempt at justice.

Who gets to declare that? Because personally I don't care in this situation. And last time I checked, I was a part of society.

Murderers are released from prison all the time. Is this situation different because the crime made the national news reel?

So... not allowing you to make a declaration on my behalf... equals me letting others make my decisions for me...

Someone here needs to retake Logic 101.

If you want me to be more clear:
Her existence in society to me is acceptable. I wouldn't object to her being paroled.

Not to mention the fact that this is not my decision to make. It is the state of California's decision to make. I do not live in California.

Are there no crimes then that you believe warrant life in prison without parole? Where's my sammich?

Is there a reasonable chance that she's gonna get out and go murder someone? Doubtful.

No, I would not. Granted some crimes should be pardonable, even murder in some cases.

This one, no way the intentional cruel gruesome murder or should I say butchery of innocents. Nope let her rot where she is.

Parole isn't a pardon.

She's been a model prisoner her entire adult life. Give the old gal a break.

About the bolded sentence.....no, she wasn't.

Van Houten was convicted in the LaBianca murders, not the Tate massacre. Van Houten wasn't even present at the Tate murders.

From your NY Post link:

Van Houten was convicted in 1971 for the savage murders of Leno and Rosemary La Bianca in their Los Feliz home on August 10, 1969.
