It depends why you're stressed - if it's the nature of the job, then you have to learn to stay calm (which you should anyway), but if it's because of some other reason like things aren't being done properly/efficiently, then you need to complain about that and propose a solution.

I've been at approximately 99.5% of my total stress capability for the last couple of months at my current job. Either my boss goes, or I go, and it's happening within the next month.

So, in short, yes.

I worked at a call center making over $20/hour with a lot of room for overtime and crazy benefits. I quit after three months due to the stress. Money cannot buy my happiness nor can it relieve my stress.

don't think so - it has always passed in a short time.

Maybe, but probably not. I have to stick it to my family cause the general attitude of everyone but me is "if it's hard, quit". Notably, a sibling quit his first real job at the ripe age of 24 after 6 days cause it was 'too hard'. Parents encouraged it...

If anything, I'd quit a job for being too boring. I did absolutely nothing at my summer job today. Got payed to surf and I tried very hard to find work...

For me, it depends on what kind of stress. I've worked "high-stress" jobs most of my career working as a crane operator, and particularly, as a barge captain and crane operator on maritime construction. One small mistake and someone gets hurt or killed, and when you're dealing with waves and swells, there's not much chance of being steady with lifts...THAT kind of stress I enjoy...it tests my skills to the max every day..., however, I've had relatively laid-back jobs where there was the stress of people not getting along, and everyone back-stabbing each other...and that kind of stress I hate to deal with...THAT kind of stress can kill ya.

agreed, it's more of the practical stress vs. the bullsh!t of management, politics, etc.

Yes, I've done it before and would again. Stress kills, meeting someone else's bottom line isn't worth my health.

QFT. Stress that challenges your skill and tests your ability is great. However, the bs office politics, gossip and bask-stabbing is a reason to leave. Hell, most of the reason I left my first job was because of that. I worked at a place (mother worked there too) where whatever happened in whatever department in whatever floor would be building-wide news by the end of the day or the next morning. It especially pissed me off cause mommy carried all the news back from bashing, back-stabbing to crying and made me listen to all of it.

Yes and I have.

and if you're asking the question you should probably quit. slightly lower pay with much less stress = happier you, and thats all that counts in the end anyway.

Yes I have quit a job because of stress and would do it again. Mental/physical health is very valuable to me.

I just quit my job and I make 12,000 less a year and I am happier than a pig in sh!t. Keep in mind than I really didn't make that much to begin with, so the % is great. The kind of stress I dealt with (which I couldn't control) is what pushed me. There are a lot of kinds of stress, when it's totally out of your control then bail. If the stress means you simply have to work harder and longer and it goes away then stick with it.

Depends on the pay, stress is common on pretty much any job unless your making $7-12/hr.

Heck yeah. I really don't care for stress. Granted, the pay and other aspects of the job will help determine how much I'm willing to tolerate before looking for something else.

I don't mind being stressed at work... but when it gets to the point where I'm stressed out about work during my off-hours, that's when I know something needs to change.

Thinking about it - looking for another job now. However, I do not like my job anyway..which doesn't help matters. Underpaid and overworked FTL.

I don't think I could ever get stressed out over work. In fact I don't think I've ever been stressed out over anything.

No I wouldn't quit because of stress from the challenge of the work or even from office politics.

Probably the only reason for me to quit is from stress coming from a bad relationship with direct boss/manager, ie at a point in time when the relationship can't be fix internally.

Have you had projects wherein you don't have the resources/people and you have calculated that it may take you 2 to 3 weeks to complete it and upper management tells you that you need to get it done in 4 days?
