Would you rather be hated for who you are, or loved for who you're not?

There's a song by Van Zant, where in the lyrics say something about it being better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you aren't.

I'm posing the same question to ATOT. It's a random poll, so vote honestly. Might be interesting to see the results, who knows.

The guy was pure evil. But we didnt know that until after the war. At the time we just thought he was a worthy enemy.
Its better to hate him for who he was, than love him for who he wasnt (e.g. American Nazis).


For me: I pick hate. At least I could live with myself.

It is definatly better to be hated for who you are; however, sometimes, I choose the easy way out and am loved for who I am not. I hate myself when I do that too.

I agree with you. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not... except sometimes I can't handle that, when I don't feel like I'm loved for who I am by *anyone*. heh But that's a bit off topic. Maybe.

Once you understand that you can't please all of the people all of the time, you can be what you are without worrying much about what people think. But at the same time, people see you thru the lens of their own perspective, which sometimes can be distorted. If they're gonna get it wrong, I'd rather it be in my favor than against me.
