Would you survive a nuclear blast?

I would be safe from a 1 megaton if smashed in chicago, but not a 25 megaton. I would be under alot of rubble,

This map completely ignores hills and mountains that would deflect a nuclear blast (ala Nagasaki).

That was something I was wondering about, too. What would happen to those to the west of the Rocky Mountain range if a nuke hit NORAD in Colorado Springs? That's a hell of a lot of rock, you have to think it would absorb some of the blast.

Eh, there's not a lot of fallout if the blast is in the air. Fallout is when the blast vaporises the ground which only happens if the blast HITS (or blows up close to) the ground Of course, if it blows up on the ground the shockwave doesn't go as far, so its a tradeoff of damage vs radiation.

It is much less than a ground detonation, but an airburst creates such an updraft that it acts like a giant vacuum cleaner, sucking everything up into it. That is where the mushroom cloud comes from.

If someone really hated my town of 700 or just considered the RCMP station as a target, I'd be dead. Hell, a decent car bomb would take me out very likely.

Somehow I don't think little Okanogan would be a target. Actually there's no real targets for a few hundred miles.

I'd be safe from pretty much any nuke thanks to the copious amount of lead-based paint in my home.
