Bullsh|t.

Anyway, AV is cool cause the decked can't band up to utterly dominate the entire game and the horde can be The Horde

Uhh yes it can, my guild used to do AV runs after BWL raids and steamroll games in under 10 minutes.

Heh, I've seen a group (yes, 5 people) from one of the power-house guilds come into AV and lead us to victory 10 minutes after joining.

Strangely enough even slightly under geared you can overpower better gear people with focused fire and better tatics. Nothing quite like out nuking tier 1& 2 mages, with my "meager" blues.

Heh, in AB, with my blue-geared rogue, I could take out tier 2 hunters while taking additional damage from a rogue. This happened multiple times in that game, while we were taking/defending BS.

I couldn't take out both the rogue and the hunter, but I could always take out one of them before dying. I'd usually focus on the hunter first, since he's more of a threat to the rest of the flag defenders. I didn't worry about the rogue because we had locks/wars/mages at the flag.

On the topic of AV turtling... on my server, when we were stuck in our base we'd usually keep them at bay for a few hours and then win. Most of the time, there'd be a few people screaming to give up, but then people would leave, and other people would join, and we'd fight back and win. That was always fun

Our technique was 1 hunter (me) stayed behind to defend the farms.

4 went to mines, 4 went to mill, 6 went to blacksmith

Forces were redirected based on what the horde did (we all had epic mounts and could get around quickly).

After taking their respective flags, 1 man, usually a hunter, paladin or rogue, stayed behind to defend each flag, and the remaining 11 took the farms and then moved up to camp the spawn and let no one out until the game ended.

You can take down 1 tier 2 with focus fire if you have a few people, but an organized guild of all T2s was just impossible for PUGs and new guilds.

^ it really doesn't take that much in gear... just coordination... for AV. Have a small group with a warrior and healer on vent and you're golden... take anything unless there's 25 people there.

I mean, it only takes 2 people to swipe & successfully defend a tower.

Speaking of pvp and battlegrounds.. Does anyone else have honor farmers on their servers that are being played by multiple people?
Its a pain for everyone trying to rank when you have 1 or 2 players who are being played 24/7 by different people grinding honor.

many Grand Marshals / High Warlords do that. it's more common to have mulitple people play that char than 1 person doing it themselves. It's a long f'n grind, this patch fixes some of that grind.

Most PUGs suck, whether it be in BGs or running instances

softofofftopic: I prefer playing defense in AB/WSG and doing assassination runs in AV (where I'd sneak behind the allies frontline and take out one or two clothies).

not really it still takes a bare min of 12 weeks of taking standing 1 to do it, cross realy BGs just make it easier to get honor in order to get standing 1, however it makes it easier for everyone

there have been a bunch of GMs on my swever i know most, and all but 1 i think did it themselfs, ill hit GM in about 5 weeks or so, and im dooin it myself

most servers set up a honor cap makes things MUCH easier

I don't think you need 12 weeks at standing 1 to get GM if you have a working honor cap on the server. In fact I think you only need a couple weeks in a row if the caps are set up correctly and everyone follows them. There are about 8 former GMs in my guild.

Starting as a new character, yes the fastest you can reach rank 14 is by going for 12 weeks at standing 1. But getting rank 14 doesn't require 12 straight weeks at standing 1. You could rank up normally like everyone actually does, then eventually reach rank 13, and only then would you need to get standing 1, and keep it for just two weeks in a row.

yea you can but it still takes forever to get to 13 unless you finish in the top 5 for a goot while

That precisely what I'm saying, on a skill versus skill game having one side blue/green facing up against a tier 2+ team is almost always a blowout. Rank the items, appropriately, and have matches in their respective tiers. Now like I said, it is possible to compete mixed tier 1-2 with tier 2+ as the difference isnt large enough to overcome tatics and focus fire. I went in with some mixed 1-2 geared guild runs, and all we did was have a flag runner team, and a focus fire team nuke the other flag carrier. Druid flag carriers don't work too well with 2-3 mages/hunters and a lock or two all at once.

AV is fun, as you can queue up with guildies and go roughly as a group, just not as a premade 40 man. I think that WSG and AB would be better overall if that were the case for them as well. Premade raids for pvp really destroy the easy pickup aspect of the battlegrounds. Frankly groups should be the extent of a premade.

I dont see how faster queues are going to make it 'easier' to get standing 1. Its not like you are the only one getting these fast queues, the entire population will have the same queue times and earn basically the same honor ratio as before.

The only thing that will make it easier to make ranks is if they indeed lowered the % of decay you get on your rating each week.

itll make it asier on a server that has set up honor caps

las week standing 1 got 600K honor, with faster ques you have more games and will be easier to get 600k honor

our server ALi side agreed toa syspem, those going for rank all use it, r11 and below all know not to go over xxx amount of honor per week and then specific standings are given out to the top 10 or so people with standing 1 getting say 600K honor and then each standing below that getting 15K or so less

So far...I'm loving it. No wait times for AB at least for me. I'm in Group 7.

Woohoo! As if out server forums weren't immature and drama-ridden enough, now we get floods from PvP server players in our battle group talking endless (and completely wrong) smack.

Great. I think I'll finish grinding-out my WSG and AB faction to Exalted and retire from BG PvP. I thought that cross-realm BGs were going to "optional," and you could still queue for server-only BGs. I haven't played yet, but the idea of playing against people I've never seen before, versus against people I've known on the server for ~2 years kinda sucks. I guess I am a carebear.

I am excited for cross realm bg, unfortunately I'm on Cenarius in the last group and last I checked there were fewer servers in that group for some reason. Not sure why they didnt divide evenly and then add evenly when new realms pop up. 6-8 (going on vague memories) realms is still better than nothing.

Wow that was possibly the worst patch day that I can remember.
Both continents crashing randomly, being stuck IN and instance with no mobs in it.
People being thrown out of the instance and falling through the world.
Blizz botched this one BAD.

Which realm do you play on? I'm on Cenarion Circle and everything was fine. No lag at all. I was playing from 10PM to 12AM last night...pacific time.

Would it not be awesome if it spit you out into another realm after the BG was up?
