Lets put it this way, I was off yesterday and played nearly all day :Q Just got the game a couple days ago and am a level 13 paladin, going on 14 soon. Also have a level 6 paladin on a non pvp server... I used to be addicted to CS but this game has so much more depth, so much more to do and is wayyy more fun then most run and gun shooter games.

I'm on my third character
Last night a guy msg's me and says "hey, we need help in WC, we need a healer" (WC is one of the lvl 20ish quests, wailing caverns). I had been playing wow for SIX hours... and i seriously thought about going to WC to help him out, knowing i'd play for another 2 hours at least.

this game is more addicting than hard drugs =
but yea, it's fun, simple, any one can basically play it.

I am, for the most part, impressed with WoW. However the way they run their patches and torrent server stuff is irritating as hell. They need to change how that is handled. Most importantly it kind of pisses me off that people with broadband connections are basically used as a server for the dial up people to leach off of.

You found this thread searching for WoW correct? This is a bug with Fusetalk, caused by the search feature highlighting words - just take the "&highlight=WoW" or whatever out of the url and hit enter to reload the page, that should fix the links for you.

Uploading while downloading is just how BT works, once you click "Finished" you're no longer uploading anyway - and broadband has become the norm rather than the exception. Even Joe AOLer with his trojans and spyware has broadband now (and AOL's $10/month "AOL for broadband" handholding service to go with it ). I like the way they're doing it, I think it's a good idea and saves them resources which can be, and knowing Blizzard's quality, will be, put toward providing a better gaming experience.

I know how bit torrent works but that is not how they should be distributing patches. I think that was fine for the beta testing but now as a paying customer I wish they would not do that. The fact that it sucks up so much of my bandwith resources and I can not surf the net on another PC is unacceptable.
I have played EQ since 1999 and have put up with more than my share of craziness from SoE, but even they did not resort to this method of patching.
Blizzard has sold a helluva lot copies of WoW not to mention charges more than the competition and I think the least they can do is have another server (or whatever it takes) for the patches.

That has to be the biggest rip off I have seen yet, AOL for broadband? I mean come on why not have AOL for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at that rate? Just goes to show that it is easy to profit off of stupidity.

My question is this, is it possible for someone to say download the patch then modify it so the bittotrent data is changed to hose the game of those leeching off them?

As a side comment, I think we should all send Blizzard bills for cohosting their data. Say $20 a gigabit?
