i no....is it worth gettin the slk 800 over that 1? for nother 10 bucks??

anyway for now--- i just opened up my case, took off the fan, cleaned out the HS and fan with a vaccuum (the fan is a 4800 RPM aopen fan...thats wut it says on it)....just turned on my computer and im running at 47 degrees c!!! that means max it will get up to is prob like 55 which is SO much better than be4!!! wow..

also i put electrical tape around my power supply wires....and then stuffed em sumwhere so its not in the way of the fan...can this hurt anything?

anotehr weird thing---- when i took off the fan, i realized it was screwd in DIRECTLY to the fins of the HS no bracket or anything is this normal? like the fins where the screws were bend out a lil bit bc of the screw maybe this is how its supposed to be but i have no idea

ok i think i figured out why im runnin so hot./...this fan is blowin all over the place and the air is just staying there....there are no other fans in that case besides 1 random xtreme small on the motherboard and the power supply and the grfix card ti4200

i think i need an exhaust fan in the back

to answer the first question, the sk7 will give you a much better price/performance ratio than the slk800. i got the slk800 and i wish i had saved myself some money by getting the sk7. the performance is nearly identical and the sk7 is sooo much cheaper

I got a SLK800, all I can say about performance is wow... i got my tbred b 1700+ running at 2.3GHz rock stable at no higher than 40 degrees celcius. For a fan I have a rather quiet but effective Antec 80mm 2600RPM case fan.

Oh yeah don't forget the article silver 3!!!! That'll help ya a ton on any heatsink.

my friend's overclocked his 1700+ to 1900+ and idles around 45-50C, at one point he reported during stress testing the temp was 85 C!! He refused to shut it down despite my requests to "I have a server running, I can't shut it down" is one thing he was telling me why he didn't want to :Q

He was using stock HSF too

Would that be a palmino? My Palmino ran a bit hotter, becuz it's voltage was a bit hgigher, i ran mine at 1900+ on a KT266A, however it topped out at 50 celcuis with a Volcano 6cu, and as3.

I would say the best heatsink for the price is the SK-6+. It was $9.99 at SVC not too long ago (still might be). I'm running a 1700xp at 10.0x201 (2400xp) and it only gets to 41 degrees under full load.

edit: Still on sale. Still on sale. BTW, I'm using a 72mm TMD fan with a zalman speed adjuster.
