Cute Kid's Toy

Just after Halloween, I started to think of my niece and nephew's Christmas gifts. I thought the camera would be a neat one for my niece, and the price seemed to be great, too! So I put in the cart and shopped around. I decided to abandon the cart and move the things I was shopping for into my "later" cart.

Well, it seems every week or so the price is climbing higher and higher. (You get notifications that items in the cart either raise or lower in price since you last looked at your cart.) I guess they took that Chuck episode to heart when the Manager andd Asst Mgr had the holiday spirit of jacking up the prices 15%.

Cliffies
Kid camera on 11/1: $28.60
on 11/28: $31.85
on 12/5: $35.66
on 12/15: $38.88
today (12/18): $59.99

NOTE: I got an email from a friend who suggests this is a top seller and the same item is sold out at Target.

If you think that is bad, check out their Star Wars toys (though most are sold through 3rd party companies through Amazon).

That's why you do your shopping early instead of last minute like all the "insert the blank" shoppers. I guess the you missed the last episode of The Office where Dwight's selling unicorn princesses for $200, a toy that normally retails for $20.

I had this happen with 3 different items in my cart that all jumped up $3 each.

Then one sold out (I didn't care much if I got it or not), and another item dropped by $4. When that item dropped by $4 I said I was done waiting for shit to go up and placed my order.

I've noticed this for video games. A lot of them have jumped up $10-$15 from what they had been for the past month or so. Guess it's a procrastinator tax.

The Lego Batman PS2 bundle was $20 off list, now it's the full $149. DS Lites are still $129, but that's list price too.

Last-minute shoppers for Child's Play should buy carefully and go for things that are still discounted, or the 4-for-3 book deal.

I usually agree, but the opposite happened to me yesterday. I knew the earphones I wanted to buy my gf for a while now (Shure e210s) and they were $199 at all of the local stores when i first looked a month ago. I almost just bought them, but decided against it.

I finally went it to buy them yesterday and they happened to be running a sale where when I buy the e210s I get a pair of e110s absolutely free! I obviously would not have gotten that if I had purchased them earlier, so win for me.

Well it goes the other way too. We have bought the kids over $300 in toys from Amazon since the end of Nov. In the meantime, those same toys altogether are about $70 less. (Yes I called them for a price adjustment but apparently they are not doing that effective Nov. 1st. Guess I missed the memo )
