wow...Athlon 64's are fast

I bought my mom a PC back in the day for her birthday with an Athlon64 3000+ using some extra money I had and she rally never took advantage of it....


Well, I since decided to use her PC using Remote desktop and Beyond TV, and am simply AMAZED how fast it encodes wmvv9 compared to my puny 2500+ baron (wmv9 eats my Barton and spits it out)

Hell, it is almost done converting a 500MB mpeg2 Stream into wmvHD and it has been like 5minutes:Q

The file is only around 30MB too:Q

Honestly, I think it looks amazing..even at a massive 70+MB

Hopefully I'll fine tune it a bit...this was taken with a MiniDV btw...

I think it took about 20minutes in the end..still REALLY fast..


That said, the PC was encoding wmv9 video at the same time (beyond TV) and the CPU was pegged @ 100% even before I clikced start so I would say it did a fine joB

In jsut a few days I cam and checked a 70GB directory i had of 1GB+ files and it was amazing how many it did..it converted liek 20GB into wmv9 SO fast..within a matter of hour

Too bad it is hers and I am using my 2001fp and my 9800pro in my 2500nforce 2 machine. I REALLY need to put it in her machine again when I get a chance so I can get > 45fps @ 1600x1200 in HL2

Hell, if it were reasonable, I would but it is too damn loud. One of the reasons I use a 2500+ barton is because it sits in my quiet HTPC Shuttle XPC


The video came out to 72MB, bUTHOLEY cow..it looks GORGEOUS. All the jaggged edges have been antialiased and it it looked stunning, even closeup at 1600x1200 and even 1024x768:Q

It will be done uploading in 16 minutes

You should swap her mobo/proc for your mobo/proc. She probably wouldn't know the difference.

I'd love an A64, but don't have the money to upgrade a cpu and motherboard.

Stuck on a 2500+ Barton @ 2.2ghz, which is plenty fast at the moment. I just need another videocard...

Yeah it's a 40gb 5400rpm drive, although I'm considering getting an external hard drive for it.

It's a killer laptop, I've had it for a year now as well and it's still pretty high on the scale, only problem is the battery lasts for a measly hour and a half if I'm doing something CPU intensive.

Damn thing was very obediant..would fetch..come fore food..beg for food etc...

I was using my computer and she had flown out of her cage, gone up a flight of stairs, and was at my feet trying to get attention. I had the DV camera and captured it....what are the odds that I was playing that song..I took this a LONG time ago..probably more than a year ago if not more.
