Yes, it's yet another WoW thread, but WoW is still losing to HL2 about 10 threads to 1, so.....
I'm starting this thread as a kind of spinoff of the thread about getting together a guild. Since there wasn't enough solid interest to get a guild going from the start, I thought it would be good to gather the character names from people and the servers they are on. That way as more people get into they game they can gravitate towards servers that already have a concentration of AT players, which can make grouping easier, and perhaps if enough people get onto one server maybe a guild could be formed in the future. The web site I have set up will also collect guild names from established guilds so that if someone is looking to join a guild right away, they can find a server with an established guild on it.
Since we don't know server names yet, I guess people can hit the site and enter information about their beta characters to get a feel for entering data and making sure that I am collecting and displaying the right kinds of information. I'll wipe the database tonight before the servers go live so that we can start collecting real character names. For server names (again since the names are not known), there is a drop-down list where you can select your server name if it exists. Otherwise you select "Other" and enter in your server name in the box below. There will be instances where the same server gets listed more than once because 2 people entered the name slightly differently, but that can be easily corrected later on.
So, here is the web site. Give it a go and let me know any feedback that you might have. The AT username is optional and doesn't display on the query pages right now. Wasn't sure if there would be any use for that. Either PM me or post in this thread any issues you have with the web pages, and let me know if you think it will be useful. I will update this post when I am ready to wipe the database.
EDIT: Okay, wasn't quite what I was hoping for. I was hoping a couple of people would give the web page a test run with beta characters or what-not. At any rate, I wiped those few records out, so whoever wants to participate can input their info once they get their characters created.
