Wow. Dr. Marten's Customer Support

I had bought a pair of Dr. Marten boots almost 3 years ago. I have worn them non-stop. The insides were all worn out. The stitching started ripping from the bottom of the boot. A friend of mine mentioned that they offered a lifetime warranty for their boots.

I called customer support and asked how to go about getting replacements. She asked a few questions and sent me a snail-mail with a return code. I sent them off. I figured that the shoes suffered from normal wear and tear. I thought they would send me back my boots.

To my amazement, I recieved a brand new pair by UPS today. They arent the same model, but at least they are new. I checked out the prices online, and they are worth more than my original boots (I paid $120; These are $140).

I am still shocked how fast I got the boots (~2 weeks) with no hassle.

No way... it's called customer satisfaction... This will only help in the long run. People will keep buying their stuff!!!

BTW, I didn't lie to the reps about anything. I said I had them for years and had worn them A LOT. *******The only reason they exchanged them was due to the stitching ripping out.************* So don't try to defraud the company....

The bold text is the key thing here. The ONLY thing that is warranted is that stitching. If you have a hole in the leather, crappy sole, whatever, it won't be covered unless the leather separated from the sole where the stitching is.

Just thought I would point that out before the good Doctor gets flooded with phone calls from people too cheap to buy new shoes.

Get a life. They will not replace shoes just because they are worn out. The stitching on my had started ripping pretty bad in 2 spots and nowhere else.

Explain that logic to me, if one pair is all you'll ever need, since you'll just call and get it replaced for free each time.

I couldn't resist the Hot Deals posting for all Docs at half off a few weeks ago and got 2 pairs that I really liked. They arrived very soon afterwards, and I ended up not liking them as much as I thought I would - and I missed my $135.... I sent them back, saying they were the wrong size and that I bought some locally instead - we'll see how fast they return my money.
