WOW EA is SCREWING their customers. Let me give you some backround on the story, and a very short summary of what happened. If you'd like the entire transcript, its quite a bit of reading... so I decided not to provide it in that it'll put most of yall to sleep. But I can add it if requested.

Here we go:
1. I email EA telling them that my Crysis (legal downloaded game) game is not working very well. (Game did not launch, period. No loading bars, nothing.). (10 Minutes wasted so far)
2. 24 Hours later: I'm asked to register my game with EA's website. I did that. (24 Hours Wasted so far). I reply to tell them it was registered.
3. 24 Hours later, they ask if I downloaded the 'new' EA Download Manager. Of course I did, I established that in my first email. (48 Hours Wasted). I tell them that I already have this program..
4. Another wait of 24 hours for a responce, 72 Hours Wasted: They respond by telling me to clear my temp files and check CTRL+ALT+DELETE processes. Did that, and replied stating that I did this.
5. The next 24 hours: No responce. I emailed them asking for a refund, telling them that these past 3 days have been nothing but running me in circles and it appears as though there is no solution for me. (Beginning to lose patience).
6. I get an email back almost immediately: "Unfortunately, similar to any download such as music or software, Electronic Arts cannot refund a game once it has been downloaded."
7. I'm shocked.. Then, I open a new ticket. Giving them the entire email transcript except the last message stating they cannot give me a refund.
10. I get a responce back: "You have been refunded $59.08, please allow 3-5 days to process"

Yay! Right? NO. Later I get another email:
11. EA: The reason your game does not work as the minimum requirements at 3.2GHz processor. You do not meet the minimum requirements for this game.
=================

It's been 5 days, no refund. First they say they cannot give me a refund. Then I get an email that says I got a refund coming to me. Then EA tells me that my Quad Core Q6600/8800GTX/4GB RAM/Vista machine cannot run this game because the GHz aren't the same as a single core CPU.. WTF? They say I don't get a refund because they're downloading service couldn't run on a full tank of gas, not because I don't meet the requirements. Then they send me another email, saying I get my money back?!?! What the hell are they smoking?

In any event, the idiots... I bought the hard copy of the game and it works perfectly with the latest drivers, highest GFX settings, and no problems. Screw you EA, I hope someone smuggles in some high profile classified client documents out, has the client sue EA for all their worth and make them out of business. There support reps have the IQ of a doughnut.

Or you could just not buy their games...

Seriously, what does anyone expect at this point... it's a 50-headed monstrosity that's sole purpose has become it's own perpetuation, to feed its own bloat, nothing more.

Well EA never helped make Crysis. I've been on board with Crytek since the beginning. They were excellent with support and implementations with FarCry and I've always enjoyed their title(s). 99.99% of the title's EA cranks out are worse than anything... I hate EA - yet, when I bought Crysis, knowing EA didn't help make it.. I figured, EA can't screw this one up, they only take little part in the games usage.. that being the download manager.. lo and behold, they screwed that up. Another fun fact: The intro to Crysis: You cannot skip the EA intro video, but can skip all the other company's that helped promote/create/sponsored the game. (I deleted these videos but its interesting nontheless).

While that is true, it does not relieve EA of the obligation to provide adequate support for a product with their name on it.

After a BS comment like your C2Q not meeting the system requirements, I'd take the refund and tell them that I would not be buying titles from them again.

First mistake was buying it online, wait the extra day for shipping and get a physical copy, it's a lot faster to just run down to best buy and return it.

Their game... As far as I'm concerned, I bought CryTek's game... and EA had to be the middleman screwing me over. The game wasn't screwed up, it was "EA Download Manger".

True, but if Crytek really cared about these things and wanted to keep a good reputation, they wouldn't have gone for EA as their 'partner'. So IMO, they are just as much at fault. I don't know how much pressure was applied by EA, but it seems like it was mutual.

It's inevitable that EA buys up every game maker in existance, when that day comes that's the day I no longer play games. Crytek should have stuck with Ubisoft, I don't love Ubisoft but they're better than EA and big enough to where they could have promoted the game and published it much the same

I went through Amazon to get my copy of Hellgate London.

I go through the Official Hellgate Lodnon forums for my Tech Support. Id never consider going to EA's website for any kind of support, excluding patches.

Its stuff like this thats made me never buy another game EA made, and be incredably wary about games they publish.

You should definitely chew their ass for that last comment. Q6600 not meeting specs? Start a hissy fit and maybe you could get a lifetime supply of something from EA. Free games?

I think they are thinking of a 3.2GHz Pentium 4. Nobody should be basing requirements on that old technology anymore.

EA is the publisher, Crytek made the game. Go to Crytek for tech support and visit their forums. Chances are there is nothing they can do for you until Crytek themselves release a patch.
