Yes, that is a lame reason, but i guess there is nothing illegal about it. At least he has a month to find a new job without being hung out to dry for rent and expenses

The fact that he said something like that to your face obviously means he doesn't give a crap about you or your job. You're better off elsewhere anyway even if it sucks in the short term.

Why shouldn't an employer have freedom of association? Why shouldn't they be able to hire and fire at will when employees enjoy that very same freedom to take a job and quit at will?

The employer wants to end the mutual employment agreement to hire his nephew. What if the employee wanted to quit his job to go work for his uncle? Why is one bad, and the other OK?

Everyone wants freedom, but it seems only for themselves. They'll gladly limit anyone else's freedom if it benefits themselves.

Is his boss the owner of the company or just a manager there? If he's the owner, he can do whatever he wants, but if he's manager, he may be violating company policy.
Anyways, looks like he got a good deal, he should go get another job, hopefully at a place where employment is merit based.

You can be fired for the exact same reason, the boss doesn't like you or wants to replace you if he wants to hire someone else.
