This is a pretty common thing for foreign students who come to the US to go to college. I had an ex from Japan who had to go through that antibiotic regime. Lots of the asian students had latent TB.

I had active TB in 1995 when I arrived home from traveling overseas for a month. Didn't know until I persistently coughed and spit up loogies for a month or so. My sister picked it up from me. Although I had it, they never kicked me out of school or anything. Just got shots and took pills for the next year and it was gone. Now I have the latent type, like you, and will always test positive, but I haven't had any symtoms since.

I hope you get better. It could be worse, there are tb strains that are immune to ALL antibiotics.

Yup, I think the correct term for faenix's condition that I haven't heard in this thread yet is exposure to the tuberculosis bacterium (which as long as you don't develop active TB, doesn't make you any different than anybody else).

My mother went off the deep-end for a couple of weeks when she tested positive two years ago because the doctor (perhaps somewhat misinformed) apparently made it out to be much more than we've found it out to be. Needless to say my mother (~60 y/o) is doing just fine with TB merely a faint memory in the back of her mind despite never having taken the said 9 months worth of medication (it would've caused far more long-term damage to her liver than any number active TB would do on her short-term health). Two years w/no medication and no active TB on the horizon. Continuing her healthy habits of daily exercise and sixty years of eating well certainly hasn't hurt her outlook.

May my mom's good luck rub off on you, faenix. TB exposure is no biggie.
