Anyway, I just called Shuttle sales and the lady told me that she didn't know anything about the release date. I gave her my email and she told me that she would email me as soon as she knew something. She didn't speak English very well, though..

Come on, someone has to know when and where we can get these barebone systems!!!!!

Actually, I have one and its perfect, 2.0GHZ, 120GB WD HD, audigy, DVD/CDRW combo writer, 512MB ram, TI4600 card.

As of performance, I've been playing Morrowwind @ 1600 x 1200 on it for couple days and DAMN that's some good game. O by the way, the LED is bright blue too!

These really do seem to be catching on, hopefully the amd solution will become more widely available.

I noticed the cf-s768 (http://www.chyangfun.com/Product/mini_cf-s768.htm) uses a sis 740 chipset which you can buy a mobo (matx) with that chipset but I don't know if it is the same or not
sizewise.

also this one http://www.chyangfun.com/Product/spec/cf-s866_sp.pdf has an agp slot and supports spdif out

The fact that she thinks the picture was took on June 4th is beyond me. The article is dated 5/06. Maybe she has no idea what she is talking about.

i cant tell if there is an agp slot or not

theres a lot of other good stuff on that japanese site too
im liking some of those dual 5.25 slots...ive got a cdrw and slot dvd in my current micro nforce setup, would like to move both to smaller system

but need the agp!

Here's my 2 cents on this. I own the P4 gBox from AMS actually. I got the box last week and there's a bunch of us over at viahardware.com that are building these small type of machines. Check out the forums at forums.viahardware.com for more info on these boxes. As for me, I had the following specs for my box.

P4.1.6A
512 MB PC2100 DDR
ATI Radeon 8500DV
40GB 7200 Maxtor HD
Toshiba 16X DVD ROM drive
Logitech Wireless Desktop

I built this machine to be a HTPC for my living room and it's fitting the bill nicely. The box is stable and I got it to POST easily on the first try. Fitting an AGP card in the box isn't too much of a problem though there is one cable that can be a pain. It can get a little warm in that cube though so don't be surprised to see system temps in the mid 40C's but it's still well within operating temps. I'll probably add an external Extigy one of these days though the onboard AC 97 codec is not too bad.

All in all, it's one sweet machine. Here are some pictures:
This first one is with a DVD drive installed but before i installed my 3.5 inch drive. Note that the floppy cover is a bit flimsy if you don't put in a floppy drive.

UPDATE: American-Media will have the 768 units within one month!!!!!!!! I called and spoke to a lady named Debbie, very friendly, and she told me to check back in a month. She said that they will have them *for sure*!!!! She said they hadn't decided how much the price would be, though. YAY!!!!!!!!

did you happen to get any specs? the chyanfun site isnt very detailed. i was also hoping to get the cf-868 case but the cd-768 specs....that p4 box is a beaut

The only AMS case I've owned was a Gigastar full tower (they still sell it). Built like a tank and still going strong at my neighbors house. He's pretty rough on them and never cleans it out. 250 watt power supply they supplied with that case is still working just fine. Might want to check out those other sale cases for mod potential. Tempted myself and don't need one at all.

Don't know what is taking them so long. But one thing worries me. I forgot to ask them, but the spec sheet says AGP solution up to 1920x1440... does this mean that there is an agp slot or not??

now that's called thinking out of the box.

How come MOBO makers can make their motherboards just a little bit less wide. Then the case maker make cases that don't have the Motherboard installed on the SIde of the case, but the bottom. Sure the case will be a bit wider, but the height will get compressed greatly. I guess this is just the beginning. pretty soon MOBO will get smaller and case makers will start making cases that have the motherbord placed on the bottom of the case.
