First off, not a troll thread. Second, she was NOT hiding the books, they were sitting on the kitchen table, I wasn't clear on that. Third the books were on Elijah Mohammed. Apparently he was involved in the Nation of Islam, a black rights movement. She got interested in this person because her best friend's mom gave a presentation about him which my daughter attended.

So this girl is very intelligent and a very highly motivated student (she wants to be a doctor). She does far better in school than my daughter. When my wife was hospitalized for a month in January, she and her mother sent cards and food. Basically they are good decent folks.

Being educated and being a crackpot fundie are not mutually exclusive. In the west, it's common for fundies to come from educated, well to do homes.

First thing you are doing wrong is trying to comment on things you clearly don't comprehend in the slightest. Maybe start with just not commenting.

M-103 is about ALL discrimination both racial and religious. It's about examining systematic discrimination and developing an evidenced based policy and determining appropriate responses to affected communities.

Your characterization is one of ignorance and personal bias.

That is the motion. It is asking for two things, publicly condemn religious discrimination, including islamophobia, and conduct a study on religious discrimination and recommend actions.

What's comical in that statement is that is the entire point of why islamiphobia was specifically mentioned. To bring it to the forefront as, right now, Muslims face far more challenges than the rest of the "minority" community by far.

I grew up in a devout Christian home. Read the entire Bible cover-to-cover at least twice (KJV and NIV). Somewhere in my late teens or early twenties, I had a crisis of faith and studied other religions, including Islam and the Quran. It's no more violent than the Bible. But if you want to cherry pick verses and translations, I'm sure you can always find something to further your agenda.

And I gotta say, it's ironic to see someone who has bought into the phantom menace try to warn someone about being useful idiot.

The proper way to take in the Quran is to listen to an expert recite it while also reading the English translation. It definitely has a mesmerizing quality to it which is how I can see the violence coming about.

In the west or anywhere else for that matter, increased education is well correlated with liberalism. That's why conservatives don't even come close to cracking double digit representation in the top modern professions like science.
