I used to swear by Newegg, ordering almost everything from them and usually being very impressed by their service.
This last order, nothing but "bad luck".
First, they insist that my phone number is not the one my credit card company has. After verifying with both that they have the same (and losing two days), magically they decide that they would ship it anyway. They even were as far as suggesting a conference call with the credit card.
Mind you that a) the shipping/billing address was correct b) the phone number was correct, too and c) the credit card company had already approved the charge.

I understand it is Christmas, I understand they are analy obsessed about charge-backs, but what can go wrong at the point where the customer contacts you, has talked to the credit card company, and the billing and shipping address matches the credit cards address? And that it is a previously used account?

So, 24 hours ago, the order was approved. WITH the extra rush shipping charge, the order is still not shipped.

I think if I could still cancel the order, I would.

No bad experience here, ordered a new mobo from newegg, first order in 6 months or so, shipped same day and UPS delivered right on time.

Glad to heard they still do it right for most. I am sure they still get most of the orders right. There is no question about that.
I just read a lot of inconsistencies on this board lately, and at first I thought that it was exaggerated, but don't think so anymore.

I guess it is more of a question of 99.5% to 95% of orders properly filled.

Never ever had a problem. Ordered a good $1000 worth of parts and not one problem. I have sent to rma's, and received them back fast. Had a problem with one order, but I entered credit card number wrong, was fixed by cs immediatly. Just ordered something two days ago and i will get it tomorrow, shipped in two days. I wouldn't choose anyone else. I'm really sorry that you had that problem Memphis. Hopefully never again though.

NewEgg is trying to avoid fraud. That doesn't sound like a bad thing to me. I know it results in a delay, but that's life. I'd rather them cause me an occasional delay than charge my credit card for somebody else's order.

Yeah, I strongly preferred FedEx although I know I couldn't afford to ship to eBay buyers with them. I remember that once I wasn't home for a package when they attempted a Newegg delivery and I saw the FedEx truck leaving the neighborhood as I pulled in. I called and the driver was still delivering packages in my area. They were able to get him to make a second stop that day. :Q What a system!

Via the new Newegg/UPS, I ordered two 7800GT cards shipped to two addresses for rebate purposes and for some reason, one card had a departure scan as if it had left the building early in the morning only to show that it canceled and "departed" again later that evening! What BS. I worked in a distribution warehouse and I know that this can only cause lost products. Marking something as departed when it has not is a recipe for disaster!

I had exactly the same problem, but i have spent about $7,000 and all shiped to the same adress using same credit card. It was ridiculous.

Also their shipping charges are way too high. if you order 10 parts and add a stupid SATA cable, add $5 for shipping.. one more IDE cable, $5 more... stupid stupid

When I can I use ZZF, there 2nd day air shipping is always a breeze. NewEgg is still awesome, but it sucks they switched to UPS instead of using the standard FedEx Express Saver shipping.

Well, it makes more sense than back when I made my first Newegg order: I added some Arctic Silver II and the shipping went DOWN. It seemed fishy to me because they clearly were not calculating actual shipping in any way. Processing, handling and shipping more (No matter how slight) costs less? Weird. I learned to love it though.

oh noes1!11! even newegg makes mistakes! Honestly after working tech support for long enough now I DESPISE end users/consumers. Most of you are idiots. I'm convinced that the world would be a better place if most of you would never try to use a computer again.

Also, how does this even come close to fitting in general hardware?

Agreed...

But on topic, I recently put in 3 separate orders with newegg... 2 went in absolutely fine. Wihtout a hitch. Newegg as usual (Although Fedex always arrived a day early, while ups is just on time...)

But the 3rd order... 5 DAYS DELAYED due to an unverified shipping address! Although, this is due to the woman who put in the order giving some wrong information. So I cannot fully blame newegg... But yes, their new safety measures can be a pain... But I'd rather be safe than sorry....

Yes. They are a major supplier of hardware to forumers. How many of us buy software there and for the few of use who do, how often? I've bought a couple copies of Media Center Edition... With MCE remotes and other MCE hardware and I order at least 10 times a year. It's pretty relevant to the building and buying threads in GH.

No, it's not even remotley relevant to GH discussion. It belongs in off topic or brag and moan. GH hardware is for hardware discussion. Not where to buy it, who sells it etc.

"Because you say so" I guess.

Just because you don't want to discuss where to buy what or who sells it doesn't mean it's not a relevant discussion topic. I wonder why all the "I love Newegg" and "look at what I ordered" threads are appropriate and this isn't.

Newegg has volume discount on shipping. "Javiervi" I hope next time you have to make sure everything is correct before you post your forum in here. Whatever you said is not right. I ordered so many things from newegg they always has volume discount. From Cali ship to Arkansas with a good volume discount. Almost all of the internet order has volume discount as well.

Thank you
