So are we back to the Joel Schumacher/Batman cycle?

Affleck can act in a serious role. I think he will be fine as a young Bruce Wayne.
But we are talking about also being Batman here. Unless he is going to bulk up, I can't really see a skinny Batman beating down on Superman.
Remember the Superman/Batman writers quoted this line during Comic-Con:
"I want you to remember, Clark…in all the years to come…in your most private moments…I want you to remember…my hand…at your throat…I want…you to remember…the one man who beat you."
I just don't see Affleck delivering that line convincingly as Batman.

if it follows the comic line, supes vs bats is set in the future.

bruce wayne asks himself what if superman went bad or crazy or is controlled.
he answers by using his $billions$ to create synthetic kryptonite.

in current time comic mythos, superman volunteerily gave bats a shard of real kyrptonite just in case he gets corrupted. but that was several dc comics reboots ago.

I watched Superman/Batman Public Enemies, where Lex Luthor is President, a couple of weeks ago. Where does that fit in, or is it completely unrelated?

There's lots of different timelines, with Luthor being president one of them. The Justice League cartoon played with them all and tried to make then a coherent timeline, but there's so many different stories that they all conflict with each other. The movies are probably just going to pick and choose interesting stories and incorporate them into one.

No Bale, no sale. A movie like this only works if you do the appropriate world building, and that means keeping on both Superman and Batman's respective actors.

Bale is a terrible Batman, but thats mainly due to his Batman voice and inability to turn his neck.

The only complaint I would have with Affleck as Batman, which is admittedly dumb at this point since we haven't seen it yet, is I dont think he could do a good Bruce Wayne. He can play a playboy, but I dont see him as high society old money playboy that Wayne often projects. He is more of a working man's playboy. But physically, he is closer to what Batman should be than any other actor who has done it so far. I'm sure he'll be fine. He wasn't bad in Daredevil, it was just a bad movie in general.

After all, Michael Keaton was Batman. Yeah, the guy from Mr Mom and Gung Ho. All they need to do is don't try to make a deep Batman voice and it should be fine. Maybe they should just dub Kevin Conroy in when he is in the costume.

Bale's voice thing was overplayed, it's not that bad. His suit's cowl was articulated so he could move his head (which is why it looked kind of goofy).

Hmm, well that's confusing. Thanks.

Yep and Keaton is still my favourite of the Batmen.

Batman vs. Superman: 12 Batman/Bruce Wayne Actor Casting Choices Better Than Ben Affleck

This actor is about the right age, he would have been perfect. Would give That man of steel actor some serious beefcake competition.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Manganiello

In early 2011, Manganiello was asked to screen test for the title role of Superman in Zach Snyder and Christopher Nolan's reboot, Superman: Man of Steel but due to scheduling problems with True Blood he was forced out of the running in the final stage. Manganiello told Access Hollywood in a March 5 interview, "They wanted me to screen test and they actually asked for my measurements for the suit and everything... Their shoot date switched and it would have taken up 11 weeks out of my True Blood schedule. At the end of the day, we couldn't get the schedule to work so that I could go off and screen test. So, regrettably, I never got to screen test, I never got to put the suit on."

Bale is a lot more scrawny than Affleck, and affleck hasn't even begun prepping for the rol. The 'american psycho' bale was gone long ago and he has continuously gotten too scrawny for batman already.

But Affleck is a terrible one dimensional, non-believable actor imo and batman will suck with him (probably still make plenty of cash, but barely be redbox rental material.)

I liked Affleck in Dogma at least. Batman has a little Bartleby in him too. I won't damn him yet personally.

Christian Bale is a better Bruce Wayne / Batman that some give him credit for...

Michael Keaton was excellent too. Both actors were able to give off the off-kilter vibe that a person who chooses to dress up as a bat and fight crime at night must have.

Yeah, that was pretty good. So was Reindeer Games and The Town. And he played a good ahole in both Mallrats and Dazed and Confused. Why is there so much Affleck hate? I literally can't remember...is it just because of J-Lo?

And of course.... FOR SPARTA!!!!

he got pretty big for "the town" so I don't think sizing is going to be an issue...

While I agree that Conroy has the best Batman voice by far, all the people whining about Bale's Batman voice forget that it isn't supposed to be a "badass voice," it's supposed to be a "famous person who doesn't want to be recognized voice." Also, it was Clooney's Batman that couldn't turn his neck.

Well, not a lot of people thought Heath Ledger was going to be good in the Joker role.. and looked how that turned out.

very different scenario

People who didn't know much about Ledger just couldn't picture him as Joker and thus were worried about the casting, whereas with Affleck, most people just think he sucks as an actor and see this as a money grubbing move to acquire star power and to appeal to girls or something stupid rather than finding a truly exceptional actor for the role to actually emulate what was done with casting Ledger as the Joker.
