If ron artest gets suspended for swinging at a fan, this guy should get suspended for the year as well. They don't even allow that move in the UFC anymore.

I love all the comments ...oh its football grow up this stuff happens, life time ban is ridiculous, blah blah blah.

The ONLY reason this guy is making those statements about how he's so sorry and feels he has disgraced football and his name is because he's worried he's going to get kicked out and lose his money. Thats the only reason. Ban him for rest of the year with heavy fines.

heck the guys on TV are saying he will get $10-20k fine and thats it. they said they would be suprised IF he gets a suspension at all (well at least one show).

he should get suspended for rest of the year +$10k per game missed.

but i suspect he will get a $10-20k fine with a game maybe 2 suspension the NFL gives pretty weak penalties

10 years in Federal Prison sounds about right.

WTF.

He needs to be banned from the game. There is no excuse for removing the helmet and stepping on his face. With those metal cleats, it could also be attempted murder. I dont want to see that a@@ playing the game ever again. WTF is wrong with people nowadays.

Sigh..

He DID NOT remove the other guys helmet. It had come off during the play. Furthermore, he's owned up to it, unlike a lot of guys:
"I apologize to Andre," Haynesworth said. "What I did was disgusting. It's something that should never happen. I mean, I'm not a dirty player. I don't play dirty. I have respect for the game. What I feel like is I disgraced the game, disgraced my team and disgraced my last name."

Yes, this was a nice save by the Titans PR department. I think Haynesworth's actions after being penalized and thrown out are more authentic though.

He should, and will be, suspended. But these claims that he should be "thrown in jail" are just ridiculous. Anyone that has ever played football understands that its a violent game and violent things, including things that go well beyond the rules of the game, happen, and should be dealt with within the realm of the game, not in a court.

A little nut-squeeze, twisting of the ankles, a kick, etc it not all that uncommon in football. STOMPING ON SOMEBODY'S EXPOSED HEAD WITH YOUR CLEATS is unheard of and if anybody did that off of a football field they would be charged with assault.

Besides, we don't even know why he did it. He was probably mad at something, but we don't know what. Has he been in trouble before? I've never heard of this guy until today. You have to think about the circumstances surrounding the event.

He will no doubt be suspended for at least a few games if not the remainder of the season, and be fined heavily, but a lifetime ban just sounds outrageous.

YES BANNED.

This was blatent and intentional activities that could have seriously injured someone well past the normal roughing up that happens in football.

He doesn't deserve to play in the NFL with an attitude like that and there are thousands of other guys that would be a better fit for the job.

If you work for a company that sells things, and get outsold by some other company, do you go over there, attack their employees and beat them up? No. That's not acceptable. You'd get fired as a minimum. Why should that be acceptable in sports either?

Good Lord, that was done well after the play and a deliberate attempt to injure another player. I agree that this fvcktard should never again be allowed to play. And, just becuase someone else somewhere did this and got that penalty does not make it right to do anything less.

Not that that will happen. He will be allowed to play again. I think the NFL has such wussy penalties its rediculous. Doesn't matter if he's sorry - too bad, you still did it dip$hit. Take responsibility for your actions - saying 'you're sorry' doesn't undo what you did.

You're absolutely right. These guys make upwards of $250,000 per game, if not more. $20,000 would be less than 10% of a weeks pay. I'm willing to bet that a ticket for driving too fast is considerably more than 10% of a week's pay to most of the people on this forum.

Like I said stop overreacting. This is football and ****** like this goes on all the time in piles (grabbing testicles, trying to break fingers) that's how it is. And, if you don't like it and the physical play and violence and hatred during the game, then as they say....go play soccer.

5 Game suspension at most, as stomping is pretty bad.

I wouldn't want to be Haynesworth when he steps on the field again. Every offensive line he faces will be trying to take him out after this.

What really pisses me off is the home crowd undieing loyalty when crap like this happens. Haynesworth gets an unsportsmanlike conduct flag for stomping a guy twice in the head... and the crowd boos like no tomorrow the call. He could have ripped off the guy's head/spinal cord Mortal Kombat style and NFL fans would still think it was an unjust call.

I love the NFL as much as anyone, but we as fans are pretty fawkin retarded.

I'm talking about dirty play and hate for your opponents (?? don't know where you got roguh play from?). Someone tried to compare this to your co-workers. Every O-linemen in the league now will be gunning for him, and that's how it should be.

I play soccer . Stuff like that happens also. People grab testicles, punch the kidneys, elbow to sensative areas, kick shins (not as unpainful as it may sound), and such whenever they can get away with it. Granted football is definitely much more physical, it's not as if soccer is a "sissy" sport like so many people think. If you don't like it physical, play golf .
