Titans vs. Cowboys

The Cowboys score a rushing TD. Haynesworth (Titans DT) then proceeds to remove the helmet of one of the Cowboys linemen and step on his head twice. Yes, those are metal cleats (maybe i'm wrong here. how about, that's 350 pounds of foot to the face) as evident by the blood gushing down the guy's face.

I'm a Titans fan but I hope the league hands down something big time for this crap.

That was a BS move. Then when he got ejected, he acts like he did nothing, and takes his sweet time walking off the field... :|

At first I thought the guy's helmet had fallen off and maybe Albert was acting like he didn't know he accidently stepped on the guy's head. Then they showed the replay.

How is this any different than what happened in hockey a couple of years ago? (Well, other than the extent of the injury, the action is what I'm referring to)

It just happened about 10-15 minutes ago in the Titans/Cowboys game. I'm sure you will get to see it again at some point today unless the previews/highlights shows choose to conveniently ignore it.

I did find this written in the CBS Sportsline game log.

Expect Albert Haynesworth to fined and suspened at least one game. Haynesworth was tossed from the game after stomping on the head of a down man twice. He's a defenseive player that Tennesse could ill afford to lose on defense.

I was watching the game earlier at a restaurant, I come home to find this! Man, that type of sportsmanship is sick.

Look up a couple of posts for more info. And more from the same glog:

Just to give you an update on the injured player, Andre Gurode the player that was on the recieving end of Haynesworth's temper tantrum. Gurode status for the remainder of the game is questionable after getting a cut on his face.

Happens quite a bit in rugby - no helmets. Still that sounds pretty bad...

not to fuel up the rugby/football debate, but rugby guys don't look like this:

I dislike rugby myself but in its defense thoes guys have legs of steel just as much or more then some football players.

But on the op that is tacky and classless and more then fines shoud be laid down apon him imo. Proffesional football players are looked up to by many children starting out in the sport and this doesnt show them any kind of sportsman like conduct at all and what the sport is about. Now if it was hockey thats the norm but it shouldnt take place in football and should be out of hockey as well too.

He should be suspended for the rest of the year at least. What was the penalty for that hockey player that maliciously whacked another hockey player in the head with his hockey stick and drove him into the ice? Wasn't it a one or two year suspension? This sounds just as bad if not worse.

I'd do a permanent ban and make him work his way back into the league. That was extremely malicious. He took the guys helmet off and went for his head. Thats assault and battery.
