Wow. Saw the Klipsch Promedias. Do people really shell out that kind of money for them?

What, 400 bucks CAD I just saw in a local retailer. Or about 275 US. This was retail so i'm sure that you could get them substantially cheaper ... I suppose.

I briefly owned the Klipsch Pro-Medias, and while they have an awesome subwoofer, the satellites are crap for the true audiphile: the high-range it too bright and the mid-range does not exist! I sent mine back and later replaced them with the Boston BA4800s. The BA4800s have the best mid-range short of the VideoLogic Sirocco Crossfires, they cost less, and they are as loud. While the sub can't dip down to 20Hz, it is tighter, and I prefer tighter bass. Point is, the Klipsch Pros are not the end-all and be-all of PC speakers by ANY means!

As for the brightness issue, i don't find that to be a problem unless you have you speakers setup wrong. They seem to sound best when atleast 5 feet apart and 4+ feet from your head. Not sitting right beside your monitor. This may also contribute to your lack of midrange problem, all your hearing are the tweeters next to your head

I'd have to agree with GTaudiophile on this one. My friend has a pair of Klipsch's, and while they are *nice* speakers, i'm not terribly impressed. The sub is nice, but the sattelities seem to have too much high and no mid range, and end up giving me a headache. I'm quite content with my FPS2000 speakers. They don't go THAT loud (who wants to go deaf anyway?), but its just enough for my little room, and I can get full rich sound without having to really crank it up.

Ok now i don't understand where your coming from. I've owned pretty much every cambridge computer speaker set.. and they all suffer from a midrange hole. This of course is in addition to their lack of good high frequency reproduction. If you weren't impressed by your friends klipsch, you are either deaf or your friend has them setup very badly. I can't stand those little soundwork level cubes Then again i've had different versions of those little soundworks cubes for 3 years, the audio defects start to get on your nerves after a while.
