Alright. I think I have a good idea on how all the regular stats work wrt what they do for you. However, although I can guess what the resistance do, I'm not 100% sure how they work and how much of a value they are (ie. chosing a piece of equipment with resistances over one with regular stats). My guess is that resistances will reduce your damage against spells of that type, and/or increase the chance of you totally resisting the spell.
The reason I'm asking this now is that I have the opportunity to get a piece of armor that although it has less regular stats than what I currently use, it also includes +10 resistance to 3 different areas, plus a spell damage shield ability (Dragonscale chest piece). I think it is an improvement, but is it enough to warrant the cost. I'm not sure. That ability sounds good, but as a shaman, if I'm going 1on1 against a PvE caster, I can usually keep them from ever casting with my Earthshocks, and can drop the Grounding totem to kill any offensive ones that the shocks miss.
Thanks for any input.
