I wish thieves here would get beat downs. Instead, the victims are blamed for not having locked their stuff well enough and the thieves are not even punished at all. It's ridiculous. Right now there's a big epidemic of bikes being stolen but also random stuff from people's cars, whether or not they are locked. They will go right in people's back yards and steal stuff too, sometimes even breaking into sheds. There is no risk because the police won't do anything other than tell the victims sucks to be you, so they know they can get away with it.
Which reminds me I should get an alarm sensor for my shed. I wanted a door that opens to the outside and kinda forgot about the security aspect of that. It's super easy to just undo the latch from outside with a credit card or something. Suppose I could change the lock for a deadbolt though. But even then they'll just cut a hole through a wall or something, they don't care, because the police don't care. If you catch them and try to stop them, then you're the one that gets in trouble for assault.
