Wow, they make hydrocodone syrup?

I've been sick for several days, so I went to the doctor. I got a prescription for a few things, one of which is a cough syrup with pseudoephedrine and hydrocodone. Not only that, but I got 8 fluid ounces of it. I got some other things here too. Tessalon Pearls I've heard of, but Alegra D? Prednizone?

I'm sure this will prove to be an interesting night.

Allegra-D is a allergery pill that i live on during summer.

predizone is nasty stuff. did the doc tell you about that drug and is side effects?

No, I was in and out in like 5 minutes. I don't really understand the point. I mean, I get the syrup and the pearls, but not the other two.

I think I may just take the pearls and a *very* small dose of the syrup. I'm a bear of a guy, but those *-codone drugs make me loopy as hell.

Usually when taken short term (7 days or less) the side effects are quite limited in most people.

The drastic Jerry Lewis side effects come from long term use of the stuff.

I've taken it short term to shrink nasal passages and sinuses and it worked very well with no side effects.

Prednisone is a steroid. I hate taking it, it makes me hungry and feel kind of lousy. Short course isn't too bad. I had to take it last because a sinus infection was causing me to have really painful asthma (my chest hurt but I could breathe ok) that my inhalers didn't help. I use it for hives when my normal medicine doesn't work.

The hydrocodone syrup (I assume it's a generic hydromet) is wicked stuff. I was on it a couple weeks ago when I was sick and it knocked me on my ass. Made me have seriously weird, vivid dreams all night long. I made the mistake of taking it one morning and sat down to watch the morning news and I had a really hard time getting up four hours later. Regular hydrocodone doesn't do much of anything to me. Since you were given Allegra D, I'd be surprised if the hydrocodone has pseudoephedrine in it since the "D" IS pseudoephedrine. The hydromet syrup has something like homatropine or something like that in it.

Allegra D is usually taken for allergies. It is an antihistamine with pseudoephedrine (or maybe phenylephrine if they've given into the DEA?)

Never heard of Tessalon. What's that?

The Tessalon Pearls are for lung congestion, IIRC. I sound like a coke can full of BBs when I breathe.

Oxy and hydrocodone really screw me up. If I'm not careful, I'll be wandering around the apartment complex in my underwear, proposing to every woman I see. They make really... lovey. :heart:

I take prednisone yearly in the spring/summer to help combat poison ivy. I'm very very allergic to it and that along with zyrtec usually clears me up after a week or two.

Oh, man. When I was a kid I used to get poison ivy something terrible. Between that and sunburns, my skin has taken a beating.

Hydrocodone: Strong painkillers (opiate) that'll make you dizzy and pretty mellow.

Prednizone: Hardcore steroid.

Allegra-D: Allergy medication. Works very well.

I find hydrocodone to be a sucky drug. It makes you constipated and lethargic not to mention slightly nauseous. It does help you sleep for 12+ hours a day though.

I'm a bit fuzzy now, but it's nothing too bad. I certainly wouldn't want to drive.

Even a short course of prednisone can have side effects. I'd wake up from a sound sleep in the middle of the night with stomach pain because I was starving, had a very serious case of the munchies for days.

I've decided that since I've seen part of an episode of ER, I'm qualified to say that I don't need the Claritin D and prednisone. I'd really rather not take something that I don't need.
