i haven't owned/worn a wrist watch in 10+ years

i stopped when i started carrying a pager (pager has a clock) and then a cell phone, it has a clock
car has a clock, i spend 90% of my waking time in front of a computer or tv that has a clock

Digital FTW, theres too much room for error in analog watches

Analog for how they look, and the general perception of them.
Digital for functionality and accuracy.

analog is classier, but there is definitely a time and place for digital

this

cell phone

and this.

i have a bunch of analog watches and 1 digital watch. one of the analogs has a digital watch built into it too, kind of silly. i also have a digital watch that has an analog face on it. i just prefer the look of an analog watch.

all that said, i never wear a watch and use my phone as my main time piece.

The best answer: BOTH.

Get a classy looking analog watch with a small digital display. From more than 1 foot away, it'll look good. From up close, you get multi-alarm capabilities, stop watch, a calender, etc all the things that a good digital watch brings. You get the best features of digital without the horrible velcro on massive plastic look that most digital watches have.

I'm not saying this is the best example, but it is the first image that appeared in Google search.

The thing is those things are best done with a cell phone. The digital watch is done with. Alarms, calendar.. come on. Quicker to flip your phone and do stuff.

Analog stays classy and the features of the digital clock are embedded in a cell phone anyway.

my watch has both. analog main dial with a small digital display for calendar, stopwatch, different time zones, and alarm.

Actually, I do it all with a cell phone now. But when I used to wear a watch, that combined version is what I used. I see no reason at all for a watch today. I limited my post to watches, however, just to stay on topic. If I must use a watch, it'll be a dual watch because any logic that says a watch is needed will also apply to the dual watch (ie more convenient and classier than pulling a cell phone out of a pocket).

Analog with a jewel or diamond only at the 12,3,6,and 9 so you're never exactly sure of the time.

Digital
Though I wouldn't buy 98% of digital watches out there.
Here's what I went with.

I like digital because when I'm timing stuff it's more exact. Plus you can light up the face. Also the above watch has huge numbers, a reverse LCD, and is solid steel mostly. Weighs about 7 oz. The band is actually darker than is looks.

If I were to recommend a watch I'd go with analog in general, for classiness and visual appeal. The decent looking digital ones are few and far between.

Analog. I used to wear digital as a kid when I'd get the ones with the calculator or phone book.

Indeed. Binary is digital..... Thanks for the reminder However the display is not the traditional "Digital" display in which the numbers are displayed. My numbers are indicated by a series of LED's showing the time in BCD.

Analog or digital is second only to the amount of bling on the watch. That is why I wear a digital 20 carat diamond encrusted quadruple platinum watch with a rubber wriststrap... because I can!!!

I've gotten so used to using my cell phone as a clock that I would carry a pocket watch before wearing a wristwatch.

Most of my watches are analog. I dont use them for telling time. I sit in front of a computer all day, have a cell phone and a clock in the car.

I buy cheap-o watches (relic/fossil, casio, timex, etc) that I think look interesting. I do have a few dual digi-analog ones. I have one of those mega digital ones also with a digital representation of a dial. The manual is retarded thick and I use maybe 1/10th of the features, but it looks cool.
