I'd be up for a surrealist show that ran AI scripts with minimal cleanup. You get what you get, and the actors make it happen.

At some point AI may be advanced enough to actually replicate the creativity of human writers.

That day is still quite a ways off thankfully.

If however the "average quality" bland and generic streaming series on Netflix is "good enough" for you then "AI plotlines" formulated by algorithm to perfectly "trigger" human endorphin release might just be your thing.

The "news is a sedative" (ie: sheeple) crowd should lap that low-grade garbage right up.... expect a lot more of it.

I dreamt of an OG Trek episode where Kirk and crew find a fully automated planet with machines that build things, machines that repair things, machines that buy things, and machines that tear stuff down creating a fully autonomous economy functioning millennia after the original species that built these machines has gone extinct.

A complete economic system completely devoid of any purpose or feeling, simply existing because it was, is, and always shall be.

Sounds a bit like Stephen King's Tommyknockers .... the aliens are one of his more "low-key (but terrifying!) "monsters".

I guess they balanced the equation, ours is currently out of whack.

It's certainly an interesting idea, but still probably not enough to get me to watch.

-Isnt that what the never-ending Seinfield episode is? AI generated content that streams forever?

Think it got shut down cause Seinfeld made a transphobic remark at some point. I think you can still go back and watch clips and segments of the show.

I had the impression he still meant human actors reading the lines.

The Midas Plague by Frederik Pohl fits this theme.

technically this could be not a horrible option, if an infinite number of monkeys hammering away at a typewriter can produce a work of shakespeare then ai could iterate something passable.

a large language model like chatgpt could summarize every 'good' story from film and tv and be given weighted values on why it was good(surprise, foreshadowing/callbacks, eccentric characters). it could probably come up with enough random combinations to produce a novel idea. technically everything ever written by humans is influenced or copied from stuff that came before.

studios could hand off the ai synopsis to a human writer for a treatment to establish copyright/ownership, since anything created by non-humans (ai or animals) is uncopyrightable.

certainly it cant be any worse than hollywood execs who come up with a pitch like "diehard but on a plane, with snakes" which is the sort of thing that can literally happen.
