Wrong temps?

Well I'm currently running my cpu at 240x10 at 1.44vcore. Speedfan used to show my idle around 30 and my load while playing CS never went above 48. Now it shows my idle at around 40 and my temps while playing CS reached 56! Sandra also shows about a 40C idle as does BIOS. I'm not sure what happened to the readings. They seemed accurate before.

This happens also with my Epox 9NDA3J. If I reboot my machine the temperature reading changes about +/- 10C. My system is now running 49C under load but sometime it will read 39-41 under the same conditions.

Problems experienced on Abit, ASUS, MSI, Epox Motherboards (probably others).

Supposedly AMD changed something about how the temperature value is to be read and calibrated from the Athlon 64, but did not notify MB manufacturers. Several MB manufacturers have fixed this already via an updated Bios.

Supposedly MSI had the same problem with the K8T motherboard, but fixed it with a Bios update. Not sure why they haven't been able to fix it on the K8N.

From what I understand Abit and Asus also fixed with Bios update.

I have neo2 board with no issues...try a newer bios like 1.41mod.....

I have never seen it from using 1.37mod to 1.51beta...i have always stayed clear of MSI's crap official bioses....I have owned the board since november and have never had the issue you guys claim and mine was an older board since it arrived with a 1.1 version bios installed....

Cold/warm....hard/soft...doesn't matter this thing has been consistent as a rock in showing me my idle and load temps....

I just had this same thing happen.... Idle/light load temp was always around 35-37C, now all of a sudden temps are 42-45C. AND I noticed this because my O/C suddenly became unstable. When I started getting re-boots I checked temps and noticed they were higher..... I have no idea what happened, everything was fine, nothing has changed, and then it all goes to hell. Running stock speeds now and temps are still reported high.

According to the above claims you should be able to set it back with a cold boot or a warm restart....If it doesn't go back to where it was you may have a different issue...

PLease list tthe bios being used and the board...

I also think he is talking about reporting isssues and not actual heat increase causing instability...yours has to be something else...

edit: ppl need to watch out if they use that corecenter...I found it untable with issues...One day back about 2 months ago it start beeping and would have shutdown cause it said my fan was not running (cpu) yet it was running at the speed it was supposed to according to speedfan.....The program is whacked and messed up like most everything MSI officially does...I recommend use a different app as sad as that is....

I've used 1.4, 1.41mod and 1.5.... the problem persists. And the behaviour is persistent, 1st boot (cold boot) gives me idle temps of 39-41C, after 1 or 2 reboots (warm boot), idle temps are 33-35C. I dont use core centre, it reports readings from another planet! I use SpeedFan, MBM and Everest, which all report the same temps.
